About the Business

Brother Benno's Thrift Shop

Brother Benno's Thrift Shop is a furniture and home goods store located at 3955 Mission Avenue in Oceanside, California, United States. This institution is part of the Brother Benno Foundation, which is dedicated to serving homeless neighbors, the working poor, and seniors in North San Diego County by offering essential meals, addressing basic needs, fostering community outreach, and supporting addiction recovery.

Founded by Harold and Kay Kutler in honor of Brother Benno Garrity, a Benedictine monk known for his service to the poor, Brother Benno's has been serving the community since 1983. You can support their mission through the $40 for 40 Campaign, where donations are generously matched by Mike and Mary Curtius.

The Brother Benno Center is open 6 days a week for meals and services, with food services available on a first come, first served basis. Community outreach and addiction recovery services may require an appointment or referral. Tours of the facility are available, and donations of any size can make a significant impact on the lives of those in need.

Join Brother Benno's in making a difference in the community by providing essential resources, support, and opportunities to those who need them most. Visit their website for more information on how you can help, or contact them directly at (760) 439-1244 or info@brotherbenno.org. Together, we can support Brother Benno's in their mission to serve those in need.

"I want to give a 5 star review because a friendly employee was super nice to me and my sister. We found really cool stuff here. There is an older lady with a man that work here that we’re kinda rude to us but the employee made our experience so much better!"

"Most Expensive thrift store I’ve been to, clothing with tears and stains, every two piece set sold separate, most didn’t have tags which they couldn’t sell and didn’t want to help out with prices that were crazy amount, never be returning!!! They get all that for free to sell it for crazy amount!!"

"Staff is friendly and helpful. Everything I bought was in sale 20%-75% off. Clothes not organized by sizes is a big turn off, no clear signs of male or female clothes."

"If you enjoyed my review please hit the like button and consider following me. I sell frozen steak, seafood and chicken from a truck and hit every dive bar and greasy spoon but also try to mix in some variety. Brother Benos has been serving North San Diego's poor and indigent community for decades. They fund their outreach by operating several thrift stores in the area. This location is located in the Mission shopping center a few doors down from Albertsons. The lot is spacious with an abundance of parking, it is also clean and well lit in the evenings and the Oceanside Police Department has a satellite office in the strip mall so it is very safe. While Brother Benos serves the poor the general population of Oceanside is well to do. This location is a gold mine of quality name brand merchandise at a remarkable discount. In the pants section I saw tags by: Lucky brand, guess, Tommy Hilfiger, and Levis. They also have a nice selection of housewares and furniture. Overall the merchandise is of greater quality than you would find new at Big Lots, and the prices are much lower. You can shop and not only save $$$, you know your money is helping those who truly need it. Consider doing some Christmas shopping here. Happy Holliday!"
