Sasa

"It’s complicated but, I have to give three stars as an average of my several visits to Sasa. We like the overall atmosphere but the more we go, the less we want to go. It’s pricey but doesn’t quite deliver on its price-to-quality ratio or as a high end restaurant. The fish is fresh, but some of the dishes are questionable: i.e. the tuna parfait. Beautiful to the eye until it crumbles into a confused mess. The drinks are hit or miss. We spoke to the manager tonight who’s never had a Manhattan, and it shows. She was very apologetic for the $30 overcharge (so make sure to review your receipts, people). The music is generally intolerable—club style pop music that doesn’t match the atmosphere and makes it a relief to finally leave the restaurant — and cheapens the expensive restaurant. Please change the music to something more tasteful and elegant! I’ll add that we have had good meals here on several occasions and several good servers. However, it’s inconsistent."

"Sasa, the Japanese wonderland where even the ducks are trying to get into the buns party! The duck buns are so irresistible; they make you question if ducks secretly dream of being tucked inside those pillowy delights. It's like a quacktastic flavor fiesta that shouldn't be missed. Now, onto the sashimi – fresher than a morning breeze and tastier than a fish who just got a promotion. It's so fresh; you'd think they have a private fish spa in the kitchen. The sashimi platter is like a VIP section for your taste buds, and every slice of fish is flaunting its flavor credentials. At Sasa, the ambiance is so cozy; even the chopsticks are snuggling up. The staff is as attentive as your nosy neighbor but in a good way, ensuring your dining experience is smoother than a wasabi prank. In a nutshell, Sasa is not just a restaurant; it's a culinary comedy show where the duck buns and sashimi steal the spotlight. If laughter and deliciousness had a love child, it would be named Sasa!"

"This is a very special spot in Walnut Creek for sushi. Have been dining at Sasa for a number of years and have never been disappointed with the quality of their sushi and food. Easily some of the best and freshest sushi you will find in the Bay Area."

"Great sushi spot in downtown Walnut Creek. Place was packed the night we went, but we were still able to get seated at the bar and had a great time. Started off with some good drinks. I like the variety of Japanese whiskies they had on hand and my girlfriend had a really good cocktail. With that we had the tempura cauliflower and it was great! Perfectly breaded with a garlic aoli type sauce. We got the sashimi omakase which was so good and fresh. Good variety of fish including scallops and blue fin tuna. We followed that up with a couple of very tasty rolls as well. Atomosphere of the place was really nice as well and the service was on point. Definitely would go back here again next time I'm craving a suhi date."

"Japanese restaurant located right in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek with ample indoor space and a lovely outdoor patio. Came here on a Friday night without a reservation for a party of 5 and we were able to get seated rather quickly. Started off with the short rib dumplings and best salad. Both different options, the dumplings were very heavy yet flavorful. Although they were delicious I would not order again. The beat salad was divine, great combination of golden and red beats with walnuts and fried cheese. For our entrees we ordered a few sushi rolls, miso cod, and short ribs. Next time I would strictly order the sushi here as the cod and short rib dishes were a-la-carte leaving me still hungry after I finished my meal. The sushi was fantastic though, great flavor, good consistency, and creative rolls. The service was a little slow but all in all I will be back for the sushi and beet salad!!"
