"We had a blast here as children in the 70s and 80s coming here with family on a Friday night. Standing on a chair to watch them make the pizza and the workers would hand us bits of cheese to tide our hungry little tummies over until the pizza was ready. A real event and very happy memories. Every end of season party or cast party or any event had to be celebrated at big Ed’s."

"Good pizza! It's a particular style, pretty thin crust hand tossed. The sauce you'll either love or not - we liked it - and standard toppings. Nice that you can choose 6, 10, 12 or 14" A 10" is plenty for most hungry people, and a couple could split for a lighter meal. No other choices on the menu though, it's pizza or nothing."

"Established in 1970 and sticking to what works this impromptu stop for pizza was a delight! Our visit was on a Saturday afternoon and it was bustling but we got a seat at the counter for two. On the menu, there is pizza. And only pizza. Great! That’s why we are here anyway. The dough is made in house and was probably our favorite part of the pie. We had sausage, mushroom, and pepperoncini. Sticking to the original way, pizzas are cut with scissors. After learning this, it explains our mismatched slices, not that we cared a bit. The soda is bottomless. The beer choices were great, and only $4 a goblet. Aside from the food, Big Ed’s makes service a priority. The first four times someone came to our table it was a different server. Then Tabby stuck around. She was witty and personable. She was super helpful with some establishment back story and helped us “fluff” our to go bag. The bag is Big Ed’s tradition. She also advised us there is a gift shop upstairs. It’s outside through a separate entry left of the restaurant entry door. We shall return…with family and friends."

"Have had Big Ed's Pizza on the "Short list" for quite a while. Decided to venture over to Oak Ridge over the weekend and thought it was a great opportunity for a new pizza experience. Upon entering, the restaurant had some very unique and nostalgic qualities that predate Big Ed's restaurant. Constructed in approximately 1943, during the Manhattan Project; the building had most certainly served a different purpose, during a time of extreme secrecy, espionage and atomic energy development. The restaurant was decorated with a nostalgic and reminiscent display of military, sports and public service memorabilia. The tables allowed for plenty of elbow space and a ton of seating available; however I must mention; my visit happened before the saturday dinner rush. I could tell the pizza must be good, due to the number of employees that were exceptionally busy and the number of "To go" orders that were being carried out of the door. Like usual, my order was simple, so I can accurately rate, compare, yet still have a well rounded experience before forming an opinion. Medium, Pepperoni & Extra Cheese, with a side of pizza sauce for dipping. Upon receiving the pizza, it was beyond scorching hot, had a great smokey hint, yet had a perfect bake on both; crust and cheese. The dough was a little thin in the very middle, making it lack form and slightly soggy, but did not hinder or slow down my desire to dive in again and again. Right away, I knew I would most definitely be visiting Big Ed's Pizza in the near future to check for consistency. ;) Definitely looking forward to my return visit!"
