"Soup wasn't hot and the bread was dry. Had 1/2 piece of Swiss on a whole sandwich. Tea was good. We always look forward to lunch when we come to Oakridge and this was disappointing. Oh well, it filled the void."

"This restaurant has been a staple to the Oak Ridge community for several decades, and is worth checking out. The Food: Every day, they serve different styles of soup, sandwiches, salads, and desserts. During this visit, I tried the chicken & dumplings soup, with a side of brown bread, and lemon pie. The soup was incredible. Perfectly tender chicken, and good portions of it. Cracker Barrel ain't got nothing on this place. The brown bread also is worth getting. I've tried the white bread before, and it was okay but bland. The brown bread has so much flavor to it. Next time, I'll skip dessert though. I don't recommend it, unless you're into cafeteria style desserts. The Dining Area: A little awkward to navigate, but they have a decent amount of seating, and tons of historical decor on the walls about the Manhattan Project days. The place could use a facelift, but it's got plenty of charm, and feels cozy. The Staff: Very friendly, polite, and helpful. Restrooms: One for men and one for women. Seemed decently clean and well kept."

"I loved this Charming little restaurant for many years, but it's no longer the same place. It shows excessive signs of fatigue and definitely needs a facelift. It's still a good place to go for a quick hot bowl of soup and a good bread, depending on the baker. They offer salads and sandwiches as well."

"Django wholeheartedly approved. The rotating list of soups always includes at least one vegetarian and gluten free soup, and they are all delicious. Today I had bean & bacon soup, which paired wonderfully with their brown bread ($1.85), also served warm. Reminds me of the bread my mom would make from scratch when I was little. This is definitely a staple for lunches."
