Mike listened to our ideas and brought them to life with his 3D designs and his experience from other successful projects. What truly sets Mike apart is his honesty, integrity, and character, which gave us confidence that he wouldn't overcharge us or compromise on quality to save costs. He guided us through various color and texture options that seamlessly integrated into our project. Additionally, he set us up for Pool School, which was very helpful. Mike assembled an all-star team headed by project manager, Jose Giron. Jose was extremely responsive, had great attention to detail, and a high customer focus. He orchestrated an ensemble of work events with a demolition crew, construction crew, electricians, masons, plumbers, and landscapers. His team was always respectful, hardworking, and took great care of our property. Jose also did something very special for us, which showed that Hillman Outdoor Living truly has a family culture. We consider them our friends. We used Hillman Outdoor Living for a major outdoor overhaul, including our amazing pool, extensive outdoor overhang, outdoor kitchen, gas fire pit, full turf entertainment area, and immaculate landscaping. They gave us million-dollar results and have been there for us from the very beginning and even after the project was completed. We are so pleased with their work that we are already starting another project with them soon. Their ability to be flexible and scale their work based on our needs is impressive. "We moved into our (almost) dream house in 2020. Everything about it was perfect, other than the fact that it was missing the number one thing that we said would be non negotiable when choosing a house, which was an awesome backyard set up with a pool and outdoor kitchen where we could hang out and entertain our friends and family. We knew it would be a BIG job and we wanted to make sure that we picked the right people to help make our dream house complete. We spoke with several different companies, and ultimately chose to work with Mike Hillman at Hillman Outdoor Living. We definitely made the right choice!! What we liked most is that from day one, he was straightforward, transparent, true to his word, attentive, knowledgeable, and he had a talent for creative design. During the building process, it was obvious that Mike and his crew took pride in their work and were committed to delivering on the finished product! The specific things that we wanted were; a grotto, a large space to entertain under a covered patio, space for my husband’s treager, and a deep pool. It wasn’t an easy task, but any time we were thrown a curveball (hail storm in 2021, pre-existing foundation issues that had to be addressed mid-build, pandemic-related product shortages etc), Mike and his team managed it all with good grace and dedication to our project. I have in the past, and would presently recommend using Hillman Outdoor Living for any outdoor projects that you’re considering."

"We have had a wonderful experience with Mike and his crew. We were hesitant to trust anyone with a backyard renovation, but I would highly recommend (and already have recommended) Hillman Outdoor Living. Mike was very reasonable and quick to respond. Results have been fantastic, and Mike’s crew were so hardworking and kind to our family. We had a complete backyard renovation, and Mike told us it would take 2 months, but they were done in only 6 weeks. We love our backyard and would use Mike again for any work in the future!"

"I wrote a series of quick review blogs. Here are some aspects. 1. As I sit here and look outside the living room window Hillman’s stone/masonry crew is doing an outstanding job building the outdoor kitchen area. Really fanatical attention to detail amid the chaos of laughter and conversations that tell me they not only take pride in their creations, they enjoy them. The kitchen they built completely exceeded my expectations. The 30' by 12' covered kitchen included framers that put up the shell in two days - and final only took a few additional days at the end. The foundation folks made some minor changes on the fly that were not specified in the plans, but I asked for, thus they were very easy to work with. The electrical and plumbing went off without a hitch, except that where I live the building requirements and inspections are bit of a chore so predictions on progress must be diluted by these delays that Hillman and their contractors have little control over. I initially thought Hillman was a bit pricier than the other bids I received, but I also got the impression that they would get the job done with less hassle. On the basics they were absolutely competitive. They prefer to install top end equipment (note the BigAss fans as an example) but the additional cost vs. the overall project cost meant I was silly to quibble and I ultimately got a high quality product. I received very good value for my money. We have a wonderfully functional outdoor kitchen and a great place to hang out, outside, all four seasons. Pandemic supply chain has been the problem in this build so patience is required. They just finished all but one thing today (part still missing) but if I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again. I highly recommend Hillman Outdoor Living."
