"I will leave this review in two parts: facts and opinion. Facts: 1. Kayla will charge you a $150 fee for cancelling 23 hours and 39 minutes prior to the scheduled start time due to illness because it was not 24 hours. She is very rigid about this. 2. Kayla will send you a Christmas card with no return address. In the Christmas card, she will write you a note discussing themes and topics discussed during counseling sessions. So, if your family is in the habit of opening Christmas cards, be aware. They may read something you never intended them to read. 3. If you have the first appointment of the day, Kayla will often arrive up late. 4. In the practice policies, it states, “If therapy is terminated for any reason or you request another therapist, I will provide you with a list of qualified psychotherapists to treat you.” She does not send these referrals. 5. She will bill your insurance company for 53+ minute sessions even if the session did not go 53 minutes. If you had a co-pay, you wouldn’t know the difference. If you have co-insurance, you would have had to pay extra. Opinion: Therapy can be a life-changing experience when working with a person-centered therapist. Some therapists see dollar signs. Having been to several therapists, I do not feel that Kayla is person-centered. She comes across as nice but her rigidity with both administrative practices and clinical interventions can hinder progress for the client. I found this to be the case for me. Not every client/therapist relationship is the right fit and it may take a few therapists to find the one for you. That being said, there are too many red flags here for me to ignore. Skip this one."
