About the Business

VFW Post 8587

VFW Post 8587, located at 1000 North College Street in Georgetown, Texas, is a welcoming institution that aims to foster camaraderie among United States veterans of overseas conflicts. The canteen is open six days a week, with Sunday hours recently extended from 2-6 p.m. In addition to serving veterans, the military, and communities, the VFW advocates on behalf of all veterans. Monthly meetings are held for various veteran organizations in the area, including the American Legion, Military Order of the World Wars, Marine Corps League, and Disabled American Veterans.

Emergency financial assistance for veterans in Williamson County has been expanded to help those receiving disability, as well as their dependents, spouses, and surviving spouses. The VFW also provides information on employment services, starting a small business, and other resources for veterans. Other organizations in the area, such as Trinity Oaks Austin and Wake for Warriors, offer support and services to veterans and their families. The VFW Post 8587 is a valuable resource for veterans in the Georgetown community.

"I went here on New Year's Eve. I was alone from out of state, but they all welcomed me like family. Great fun Karoke & delicious pitch in + cake. Loved it!"

"I wish i could begin to explain how special this place is. See i happened into this establishment trying to play softball at the fields across the street brand new to texas and the captian of the team for the vfw at the time responded. After that came 2 years of spending as much time as i could with these people. After everygame the oppoments were always invited across the road to the post for an economical cold pitcher or 10 but none of that addeds up to the character of the people also i dont think in the 10 years since ive been to a better karoke night. Part time bartender Eric always in my list of top people. Great memories no idea why they came up driving to work this morning in Chicago but as a son of a veteran i.encourge everyone to help this place thrive in any way you can"

"Friendly place. Good place to get alcohol but not much for non-drinkers on a daily basis. Their best dish is a microwaved frozen pizza. Live music most Friday evenings. They do have quite a few cook-offs. Fish fry all-you-can-eat 4th Friday of the month. Spaghetti dinner every 2nd Friday of the month. Large meeting rooms. If you want to host a dinner for 20-200, they are accommodating and very affordable. Good place for a reception. You could even do an outdoor wedding overlooking the San Gabriel River for a lot less than anywhere."
