"Before you book a stay here, please know that THIS HOTEL DOES NOT HAVE ANY HOT WATER. Go ahead, think I'm joking. Of course I complained to the front desk about it, he was extremely rude and could not care less about the matter. All I got was 'maintenance is on the way' over and over and over again. He offered no solution, no compensation, no nothing. I don't blame him though, I blame the management who run a hotel with no hot water. I just paid my money to stay there and they had no hot water. Not to mention, the other reviews are correct, this place is GHETTO. So, if you want a ghetto experience and no hot water, then please, book your next stay here!"

"Usually do not stay at Main Stay as I always here bad reviews about it and I feel it is not luxurious enough compared to other Choice Hotels, but decided to finally give it a shot, smh. About 3am right now. Why am I up at 3am? Well that is because whoever is close to us had their kids blasting the t.v. or music and were screaming at each other, which woke up both our kids alwith the oldest asking if we could just leave now. Wife called front desk person said they will check it out, never came up as I looked out the peep hole and opened the door twice to see and nothing. Gold member through Choice, and says 100% smoke free. Yea that's a load of horse maneuver, as we were walking down the hallway to our room we smelled cigarette smoke so much that both myself and my oldest had to use our inhalers, when we questionsled this the front desk person said "well people do it all the time regardless of what we say". All they did was have someone come around with a spray bottle and spray the hallway, what a joke. The room. Immediately upon entering I noticed the recliner was broken, broken as missing the part that reclines the chair, some of the dishes in the cupboard were dirty, the bed squeaked with every little movement, and the smoke detector had a low battery and kept beeping every minute or so (which the person at the front desk replaced). Had our dog with us, usually through Choice I pay a refundable $25 pet fee in case of damages the dog may cause, here, nope $55 non-refundable fee which is b.s. given the staff could care less about the health and safety of their guests. I have been reading some of the reviews while sitting here and please read them, unless your poor af, do not, I repeat, DO NOT stay here, you will regret it like I did, luckily I used points to book, but that is a waste of points I will not get back. The only good thing about this hotel is the location it is in, an abundance of restaurants nearby, 290, 390, shopping, and the Woodfield Mall."

"Where do I start with this place. I kept going back and forth on writing a review as I didn't know if I'd be forced to stay here again, and was told this morning from the company I work for, they would not pay for my stay at this location again due to what all happened. So let me explain everything. I work for a major university as a recruitment agent. Our university is a Choice Preferred Partner and get a 8% discount using the code that Choice provided the university. The university books our stays and tells me where to go. So keep that in mind as you read the rest of this review. I checked on October 8, 2023 was in room 340. When I checked in Jay helped me and was very professional, polite and helpful. I go to my room and like everyone else is saying, the room was dirty. I ended up buying my own cleaning supplies and cleaning the room, and I'm glad I did because they are short staffed with housekeeping. They have 3 housekeepers for the entire property. They do a lousy job. My floor was not vacuumed, kitchen floor was sticky, coffee grounds on the kitchen counter, hair on the toilet and every fixture in the place was dusty. Not to mention the hallways are covered in trash, bags of trashed piled up by the elevator, hallways covered in trash and floors wasn't vaccumed the entire 26 days I was there. So the 3rd day of me being there I stopped by the desk to pay for the next day and James was at the desk. He was very rude and nasty. The next day I made a comment to Jay about James and he told me to say something to the manager which I did. Sofie, the manager, very disingenuine listen to what I had to say, and said she would talk to James. She then tells me she looked at my reservation and needed proof I worked for the university. Since I don't work on campus I'm not issued a ID card, so HR emailed over a verification letter. A couple days later I'm told by HR that the preferred partner code is no longer working at MainStay Schaumburg. I ask John that night what was going on and was told Sofie told everyone in the hotel I was a fraud and lying about where I worked, and that she went into Choice Advantage to disable the acceptance of preferred partner codes. My university tried calling her corporate office and they wouldn't call them back. They spoke with Choice and was confirmed what John told me. The hotel disabled accepting the code. So I ended up booking with my AAA and actual ended up being cheaper, so it backfired in their faces. While there I ended up having another issue with James and reported it, and got a message at 9am via email from Sofie that she spoke to him about it. When I spoke with someone else that works there about the issues with James, I was told Sofie ignores all complaints and doesn't do anything about them. I was told the only thing she cares about is money, and her second job at the Mexican consulate office. They went on to tell me why the hotel is in the condition it's in as well. They have been laying people off. They have cut everyone's hours. They use to cater to business people and they stopped that, they use to have a shuttle they stopped that. Housekeeping only works a few days a week. Any given time they have 30 plus rooms out of service needing cleaned. Just recently they had someone commit suicide in a room and found another one dead. This place is a train wreck and I'd highly suggest avoiding it. It's full of homeless who live here. The place stinks, unprofessional management and cops there almost daily. And Sofie, don't bother replying to this review to sound like you or corporate cares. I know you talk about everyone, think everyone is a liar and could careless about the state of the hotel. Maybe after the complaint we filed with Choice you will, if you still have a job."

"It was my first & last visit to Mainstay Suites. We booked two nights, went to check in, only to find a soiled room, sticky floor, bathroom shower curtain falling off of the wall. We went to the front desk, explained the situation and were offered a different room. We smelled urine walking down the hall to that room, only to find it in the same condition as the first room. We left and requested the management information to lodge a complaint about the state of the hotel. I do not recommend staying there."

"I am currently staying (Rm 225) and being blessed to be a diamond member (staying over 70 nights in past year), people are nice at this hotel. I stay only at Choice and it was questionable whether I would book here. Since only one night for a conference, I tried it. You can see improvements where management has cared for some of other reviews (poor room condition, smell). I did not experience that except for sticky floor which they came and mopped. The real issue is there is no breakfast at all. When you check Choice hotels official web site, they state at least continental breakfast and I had breakfast at a Mainstay in St. Louis and (near) Lexington Ky. When you check Mainstay locally, Mainstay Hoffman Estates has breakfast and room rate is actually less. The location is good with many shops and restaurants nearby. Overall, you can do better"
