"I understand that people in this day and age are down on their luck and housing if difficult but this place needs to be fire bombed. Eradicated from the city of Gurnee. Homeless, drug abusers, alcoholics, pain, handlers, all the possible degenerates under one roof. People knocking at the door at two 3 o’clock in the morning because they’re drunk and they don’t remember what hotel room they’re in. Cops on property on a semi regular basis to address situations yet situations are not being addressed."

"500 COCKROACHES!!!! The police were there dealing with a known gang member during my check in. I booked through Expedia but could not get a room until the man behind the desk got it cleared by “the boss” over the phone. So the first 15 minutes was just standing in the lobby waiting for “the boss” to call. He kept assuring me I would be safe here. Another RED flag. Got into the room and saw bugs everywhere. Told the front desk I’d like to leave and get refund for the bugs. Cigarettes burns in all the beddings. Stains, grime, have never seen such a horrid motel. He responded, “they’re friendly bugs and they won’t bother you”. I went back to my room because it was midnight and I was exhausted. Tried to close the bathroom door to keep the bugs in but it wouldn’t close because it was previously kicked in. I stuffed towels around the edges and tried to sleep. I was so uneasy about the bugs I couldn’t sleep. I turned on the light and saw HUNDREDS OF COCKROACHES crawling on the bed the ceiling the walls the lamps floor and tv. I grabbed my bag and ran out. The front desk was not occupied to raise my concern so I left and did not get a refund. EXPEDIA knows of the situation but will not suspend contract with this property. It needs to be condemned. Contacting the health department next. As a solo female traveler, I was horrified. And management didn’t care because they were paid."

"There must be people that seek out the worst hotels. It was almost worth it because I couldn’t even believe how they can call this a business. First room had 1 dim light, no bathroom light, fire alarm beeping, not even a lightbulb in the lamp, but then I found one and screwed it in, but it didn’t work. I touched the TV and fell forward, it was broken. I must’ve killed a few bugs, oh yeah, they don’t even have a phone. The smell… Bath tub was filthy. Everything was filthy, tables were dirty, garbage under the bed, the garbage cans were full of mold and garbage, they did have toilet paper though. No soap, when I opened one of the drawers it was like to put all the garbage in it. It’s actually worth it if you want to experience, possibly the worst hotel in America."

"Spend a little more and dont stay here, place is falling apart, roaches everywhere, sheets are dirty and discolored, place needs to be demolished, its in that bad condition. It was as bad as sleeping next to the dumpster in its parking lot. Between the ceiling falling in and the bug bites, they charged me 100 dollars for 1 nite for a room that they switched on me. When the rate was 39.00 a nite. Place is used for drugs, one nite stands and the unfortunate."

"A quality hotel for a bargain price. You can’t beat $300/wk for a hotel room anywhere. Great location near food and shopping. Right off the interstate for any weary travelers checking these reviews! The staff is great, all of them, and are willing to help. Been staying here in-between homes for weeks and haven’t heard a peep out of any other guests. The staff is very vigilant unlike many hotels, for your protection, and keep a close eye on the premises and do not allow any funny business. Affordable place to stay on a budget, BUT, you get more than you pay for. Thanks Gurnee Motel!"
