Reviews
"We had such a good time there! The mini golf, hot tub, and patio were so fun. The decor was super charming. Jenny and Karen provided the BEST customer service. Unfortunately the pool heater was not working but the other amenities made up for it. We will definitely be going back!"
"I stayed at Howard Johnson while attending the Burlington Gun Show. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were safe and clean rooms with new beds. The new management is remodeling the hotel and making good progress. Ask for a pool side room and you will not go wrong. I will being staying at Howard Johnson in Burlington again in June."
"After a recent stay at the Howard Johnson's, I felt compelled to leave a review which I don't usually take the time to do. My experience was so pleasant! The hotel is under new ownership and the changes, renovations and improvements are simply incredible. I live locally and am aware of the "train wreck" reputation the hotel had in the past. I took a leap of faith and booked a room anyway. When I entered the front door, I was simply shocked at all the beautifully displayed Christmas decorations in the lobby and how clean and fresh the area was. As we were promised, our room featured a new bed and bedding and was very comfortable. The pool and spa areas were extremely clean and well kept. Given the extremely poor and neglected condition the hotel was in previously, it now is shiny and clean and very appealing. The new owners and their staff are working overtime to provide the Burlington area with an affordable, reputable and comfortable home away from home. It's a work in progress and there are kinks to work out, sure. Considering what hotel USED to be, it is now on its way to luxury accommodations status!! Just give them a chance and some patience while they all work very hard to make your stay a great one!"
"The whole experience was awful! I wouldn’t stay there again if I was homeless and needed to take cover from a tornado. We checked in and the first thing the receptionist said was the pool and hot tube were down. I didn’t think much of it because I wasn’t going to use it. I had ordered two rooms one was “ready”(bed was messy and barely made). The other, well, the other two I should say, because the receptionist came with me because she wanted to “check” the rooms before giving me my key. Which is a first for me. AND, They were still not clean. I followed her to the first room and stayed in the doorway while she walked through the room and she came back and said the bathroom wasn’t clean. I asked her what she meant by not clean because if it was something minor, I would have been polite and said it was fine, I’ll take care of it. But she said the toilet and shower were still dirty. So we proceeded to go to the next room where the door to the outside wouldn’t shut by itself due to no stopper on it. There were Cords exposed coming out of the wall by the front door. The bed(like my first room) wasn’t made very well like they just threw it together in a hurry. The carpet had not been vacuumed and mirror had all kinds of water spots. I had to ask for soap due to none being in the room. The receptionist told me if I was not happy she would give me “some” of my money back. I had reserved two rooms for two nights and I told the receptionist I would be only staying one night instead of the two. She then told me she totally understood. In the morning, my colleague and I went to grab breakfast and there wasn’t any. There was only a waffle maker with no batter to make them and that was it. No fruit, drinks, coffee, muffins, bread, there was nothing!! I proceeded up to the front desk to checkout and the receptionists( different one) had told me I wasn’t due to check out until the next morning. I told her everything that was above(leaving out the “I wouldn’t stay here if I were homeless” part) and she told me she could not do that and she would have to let her manager know. So I gave her our keys and we left. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY MONEY BACK FOR THE NIGHT MY COLLEAGUE AND I NEVER STAYED!! With me being a Diamonds reward member I should have free cancellation? But through all of this, I was polite and respectful. This was by far my worst experience I’ve ever had at a hotel!"
"DO NOT stay at this hotel! It is so run down, filthy and disgusting. To begin with, I made a reservation in July for late October due to a soccer tournament and they tried to cancel our room 4 days prior when the town was sold out due to so many soccer teams. We moved rooms 3 times. I was about to have to drive 2 hours each way back and forth from the soccer tournament because it was so awful. I had to have the front desk supervisor re-clean the bathroom of our 3rd room because all of the cleaning staff were gone by 12:15 pm. The wallpaper was peeling, the walls crumbling, stains on the carpet, the bedding, the fixtures. The tub did not drain so we had to stand in dirty water while showering. Most of the furniture looks like it was from the 70's or picked up at goodwill as nothing even matched. We waited for 10 minutes at check in and had to call the front desk from our cell phone to get the front desk employee to come in and serve us. Coming back from getting coffee in the morning, our room was filled with the smell of marijuana to which the front desk said that someone must have been smoking in the room behind us (even though no smoking is allowed). The marijuana smoke then turned to cigarette smoke after about a half hour. So as my 2 children and I tried to quickly get ready so we could get out of this hotel we were breathing in the smoke. Unacceptable for my children to experience at a place that charged us $171 but charged another person in our party $86 per night. I inquired about the discrepancy and was told they don't offer a rate that low. 3 days later I am still awaiting a call back from the manager when I filed a complaint at the hotel. I have filed a formal complaint with Wyndham customer service and am demanding a full refund. Please do not waste your time or money. I am still disinfecting all of our items and have left everything in the garage as I am worried about bringing things from this hotel into my home."
