"The package was insured for up to $500 but the manager, Paula, told me that they were not going to repair my laptop. They are supposed to be the experts in packing and shipping but accepted a package without inspection and didn't make any recommendations on how to properly ship a package containing electronics. Thank goodness this wasn't an item prohibited by law for shipping. Who knows what could've happened? There should be some sort of policy in place that requires the expert to make recommendations to the customer on proper shipping techniques and then give the customer the option to opt-in or opt-out of the stores recommendation (this never occurred). Perhaps asking the customer if they used certain materials when packing the product for shipment and if they didn't use any materials to pack then it should be recommended to the customer to purchase certain materials or refuse the package completely without the required packing materials. No one wants to pay extra money for insurance only to be denied coverage when they file a claim. Who has money to just throw away like that? I spoke to both MicroCenter and GeekSquad after my claim was denied and both instructed me that it'd be better just to purchase another laptop because the repairs would be in excess of $500. This experience has been the worst and I will spread the word regarding my horrible encounter."
