"I was already a fan of the Acton philosophy before I enrolled my daughter at Invictus. Their emphasis on cultivating resilience, communication skills, community, and the child’s innate curiosity and eagerness to learn just seemed intuitively right to me. It’s what I wished I had had myself as a child. Since she was very young, my 7-year-old daughter was morbidly shy. She was afraid to take any risk that might expose her to embarrassment or failure, whether it was social, academic, or athletic. But after just a half year at Invictus, it’s as though she’s been transformed into a braver, more self-confident version of herself. She talks excitedly about her diverse classmates (“my hero friends”) and how they support her. She now calmly and respectfully advocates for herself when she feels something isn’t right. And SHE tells ME that it’s ok to make mistakes “because that’s how we learn.” She wakes up giddy with excitement to go to school every day... Oh, and her math and reading skills have skyrocketed despite not sitting around all day with her nose in a textbook. At the risk of sounding mushy, I’ve shed tears of joy several times in the last 6 months as I’ve watched my daughter blossom and grow both academically and, more importantly, as a little human at Invictus. We LOVE this school."
