"Great little laid back airport with a nice restaurant called Wing It! Little sporty landing when the train comes by so be prepared to go around if you feel uncomfortable with the wind change at 50ft AGL."
"Small field, with a few business, flight clubs and flight training. Easy access in and out, though traffic to hicks can be a bit heavy, especially if the train is crossing."
"Hicks used to be a great airport to take friends and family to, but their own Airport Associations ego has gotten in the way. This used to be a top airport in the metroplex and now that they’ve driven the Beacon away... I find no use to fly to this airport anymore unless under special circumstances. They serve their Commercial Business tenants better than aviators, family’s and the community. Also if there’s train traffic, be extra cautious with wind sheer."
"Litigious actions by the airport has caused local favorite restaurant and small business to close operations and move off the airport. There is an outpouring of support for The Beacon Cafe and disdain for the poorly maintained airport and its conditions."
