About the Business

Village Green Park

Village Green Park, located at 1810 Walters Avenue in Northbrook, Illinois, is a beautiful and welcoming community park. The park is maintained by the Northbrook Park District, which is currently seeking nominations for its Hall of Fame honoring outstanding athletes and volunteers. With over 60 inductees since 1978, the Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the park district through sports and volunteering.

One young athlete, Ben Fingerman, had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play baseball at Wrigley Field through the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run program hosted by the Northbrook Park District. His mother, Jen Fingerman, described the experience as unforgettable and special, creating lasting memories for her son. Participating in programs like this allows children to test their skills, have fun with friends, and create lasting memories.

Village Green Park offers a variety of amenities and activities for visitors of all ages, including playgrounds, sports fields, walking paths, and picnic areas. Whether you're looking to relax in nature, play a game of soccer, or host a family gathering, Village Green Park is the perfect spot to enjoy the outdoors in Northbrook. Don't forget to nominate deserving individuals for the Hall of Fame before April 12, 2024!

"What a great park. Lots of different structures for all ages and different turns too. Lots of trees and shade in the large grassy space. Swings, sand boxes with construction trucks and so so much more. There are always kids here to play with or just run in the grass. The Northbrook Park District also has lots of fun and organized events. The only thing that can be improved is maybe having a little wall for the sand area because when sand gets out then the sidewalk is super slippery and we've seen quite a few kids wipe out. There are a ton of businesses across the street so finding a bathroom or place to eat after is easy. It is near a train track and some busier downtown Northbrook streets so if you have a little one or multiple kids keep your eyes on them. Lots of foot traffic too. Had some wierd lady ask if we need a baby sitter then walk to everyone and ask personal questions about their kid. A dad told her to leave ans she didn't so he called the cops on her because it was getting quite disturbing. Some times they do have protestors on the corner but they usually stay away from the parents at the park. A fence would be nice but definitely might look odd. They do a great job decorating the area for Christmas. As you might have figured out, I try not to take pictures if other people's kids who I don't know and have permission are at a location so I don't have a picture for this park but I do have a picture of some of the Christmas decorations and it's definitely worth checking out. Has a great walk path."

"Interesting playground equipment for big and little kids! Variety of swings, slides, climbing spaces and more. There is a sand pit with 2 digging machines and a tot play area. By the baseball diamond there is a Gatorade machine and public bathroom. There is also a bike repair station with a tire pump and lots of tools. This park is in a great spot to grab an ice cream or coffee and play! Surrounded by Graeters Ice Cream, Leonidas Chocolate and Baskin Robbins."

"I came here with my family and loved it! It was super kid friendly and was accommodating for my toddler and my school-aged nephews. They had multiple playground for different aged kids. They also had a sand area to play in that my toddler enjoyed. They have a nice paved path and walkway and a little fountain nearby as well. Very clean park!"

"Beautiful park, my family has been coming here with three generations. We even planted a tree in the park to honor my dad. It has changed a lot over the years, but still has great play space and open space. There is a gazebo and sports courts- something for everyone. They do a lot of events, art shows and car shows and stuff for kids. You really should visit"
