New Pioneer Food Co-op is a local institution located at 22 South Van Buren Street in Iowa City, Iowa. As a food, grocery, and supermarket store, we pride ourselves on offering a wide selection of local and organic produce, house-cut and cured meats, seafood, hearth breads, and house-made meals.

Our Coralville location now offers conveniently packaged lunch boxes, complete with a fresh deli salad, half size New Pi cookie, napkin, and fork - all compostable, of course! With a 5 order minimum and 48-hour lead time, our delivery service runs from 11am to 3pm.

We source a variety of chicken, pork, turkey, lamb, and beef from local farmers in Iowa and Minnesota. Our breads are made fresh daily without any artificial colors, flavors, or ingredients, available both in-store and online.

"I love this place! I grew up in Iowa City and this was always where we shopped because we were a family of food allergies. I went back while visiting in Iowa City and it brought back all the feels. The Coralville store is nice and larger, but this is the original and a gem. If you are vegan or dairy free, the vegan cheese selection is insane! I've lived in a handful of larger cities and no where has even come close to the vegan cheese offerings here! The freshly made food and desserts are awesome too, with many vegan options!"

"They have a nice little area to sit and eat. Overall the store was very clean and had a nice layout. It would be nice if there was decaf coffee prepared for folks in the afternoon. And access to a drinking fountain would be great! I purchased coffee beans, seltzer water and a scone. Delicious! A sign asked customers to use individual tissue papers or tongs to retrieve bakery items. I couldn't find either. Still a nice place I'll revisit."
