About the Business

Cedar Crest House

Cedar Crest House, located at 2223 Jefferson Boulevard in Dallas, Texas, is a historic Victorian style home originally built in 1905 for Lark Owen Daniel (L.O. Daniel), a prominent millenary company owner and president of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. This three-story, 5,000 square foot home was lovingly restored and transformed into the working offices of Durham, Pittard & Spalding Law Firm in 2016.

The restoration process preserved many original features of the home, including the first-floor hall, reception, library, dining room, butler’s pantry, and kitchen. The upper floors were modified to accommodate 12 private offices, while keeping the original wood trim and windows intact. The porch roof railings and north entry were restored to match the original style, and a new back porch and entrance were added for convenient access from the parking lot.

New construction, such as bookcases in the library, cabinetry in the butler’s pantry, and a new staircase from the 2nd to 3rd floor, was crafted to match the original woodwork of the house. Original light fixtures and hardware were rescued and restored, adding to the historic charm of Cedar Crest House.

The 3rd floor, originally a ballroom, was updated with wood paneling and a painted shiplap ceiling. All interior walls, doors, and hardware were replaced to match the original design found on the first floor. The hall light fixture, originally a gas and electric combination, was restored and rewired for modern use.

Overall, Cedar Crest House is a beautiful blend of historic charm and modern functionality, offering a unique and inspiring workspace for Durham, Pittard & Spalding Law Firm.
