Guns Plus

"Spent close to $2500 on a shotgun, ammunition, supplies & shooting lessons with Guns Plus in Georgetown, Texas in October & November, 2023. Since then, have received horrendous customer service with a "couldn't care less" attitude from them by telephone & been treated disrespectfully & patronizingly. Repeated calls to Kyle Simanek, son of the owners & the owners themselves have gone unanswered & no return calls have been made by them. There are other quality gun shops that pride themselves on customer service so my recommendation is to avoid this place. I certainly will... Update 1/31/23 in reply to the owners reply below to my review above: the first sentence of theirs is a gross exaggeration & untruth on the part of the owner & further, while it is true that I did cancel an order (& by the way, you might take care to properly & accurately spell my last name which is "Hogge", not "Hoagie"), that is ALL I did which is my perogative as a customer. I never, ever screamed at your employees in so doing & never said that I wouldn't shop at your store anymore. Your allegations as to extra instructors are true to an extent but the WHOLE truth is I paid for instruction with just one instructor. Kyle Simanek & never asked nor expected, nor was ever told prior to the training that two additional instructors would show up. The other allegations are completely false. I did ask in several callbacks (to which Sean can attest) politely, civilly and quite reasonably (again which Sean can attest to) for a return call to discuss this experience & other potential orders, & which I have never received. I therefore stand by my review 100% & wouldn't think of going back to your store & will let everyone I know about this & will relate this to the Better Business Bureau of Georgetown as well as the Chamber of Commerce. You are a disgrace in so far as truth & customer service is concerned, so "buyer beware" with regard to Guns Plus of Georgetown, Texas ~ you can do much better somewhere else. This place needs a grand remedial lesson on what truly constitutes "...stellar value & customer service.""

"Dealt with these guys numerous times with not one complaint and trust me, I'm a perfectionist - I know how to complain. always willing to talk, answer questions, give personal experiences and opinions and ever so patient. Owner even called me after hours to tell me my background check went through. Could have done it in the morning but these men are hard working Americans who care about their community. Nice selection and some customs from time to time. Can be a little pricier but time is money and a few extra bucks is worth the time saved getting my questions answered by them (instead of the Internet) and their fast service. Education and convenience costs money, whichever way you want to spin it."

"Outstanding service and customer relations. Got a Henry 45-70 and nobody in town had a rail. Not only did the have it, they mounted a scope with low profile rings. After they bore sighted I took it you the range, only made one adjustment. 3 days later, 8 point buck at 75 yards, one shot, one kill. Thanks Gents, I will be back!"

"Had a fantastic learning experience with Instructor Chris! My Very 1st time ever holding/firing a pistol - Chris was extremely knowledgeable and patient - carefully explaining everything the entire session. Chris put me at ease and taught me- step by step - the handgun instruction I was seeking - and so much More! I felt especially good, ' cause he was all about Safety - and teaching me process with substance. AND he didn't Show Off with his Expert shooting skills - but I was very impressed by his demonstrating proper technique and form. I feel confident and excited with this training!! "I'm going to start this review by pointing out that I am a very particular and detail-oriented person. I desired to have the bull barrel on my .17 HMR prairie dog rifle threaded to receive a suppressor. I contacted a number of buddies in my "network" in the Killeen/Belton area and they were hard-pressed to come up with anyone they could personally recommend locally. I expanded my search and had a buddy in Georgetown point me to Kyle Simank (owner) and Dave Moreno (on-site gunsmith) at Guns Plus in Georgetown. Unlike other shops which just take work in and ship it out to a third-party gunsmith (thus incurring greater turnaround time), Guns Plus does their work on-site. Kyle and Dave took the time to explain the process and the tools they would use on my rifle, how the barrel's crown would be protected with a brass insert during the lathing process, and how they would use a suppressor identical to my own to check the concentricity after the work was complete. The job was finished early and under-budget. I was charged $25 less than I was quoted at the counter when I walked in, and the work was completed just 3.5 days after I dropped the rifle off (they estimated 5-6 working days). I couldn't be more pleased. All this took place in mid-March of 2021 when people are, literally, standing in line for guns, ammo, and service. FOLLOW UP: I took this rifle to Wyoming in July 2021 on the intended prairie dog shoot and took dogs out to 300 yards (under windless conditions!) with many, many more taken at closer ranges. Dave's work was great and stood the "real life" field test."
