"The history and beauty here is remarkable. Note that the office is now located that the front. You don’t really need a map because you can Google the notable people buried here and locate them that way. Take time to read the historical markers throughout the cemetery. It’s very shaded so it’s a lovely place to walk and it felt safe to me."

"A stunning, haunting, look into the history of Houston, dating back to its founders, who are buried here. To think of this place only as a cemetery would be a disservice. This is an immense, tragically beautiful place that captures epidemics, the ebb and flow of daily life, and the people that built or called the city home for one or multiple generations. An important historical marker that is worth a visit, especially if you value history."

"This is a beautiful historic cemetery with the best view of downtown Houston there is. This cemetery has many notable people buried here, but Howard Hughes is probably the most well known."

"One of the most beautiful cemetery in Houston/Texas. You can see lots of early settlers grave. I love the Century Tree in the garden. There is on going construction from Washington Ave. entrance, so you have to use Kane Street entrance on the East side of the cemetery."

"A beautiful setting for the final resting place of famous people in Houston’s history, including aviator Howard Hughes, as well as mayors, governors and more. This was once a confederate cemetery. And is said to be one of the most haunted locations in all of Houston. Meticulously manicured lawns and beautiful crypts and tombstones make this a peaceful place to pause and remember."
