Walgreens Pharmacy

"Yesterday I was prescribed Ritalin by a psychiatrist based in the Dallas area via a virtual appointment, after being diagnosed with ADHD. I told them this was my preferred pharmacy, because it’s closest to me, and the psychiatrist told me that Walgreens should text me when it’s ready, and it should be ready for pickup today. After waiting for a text from Walgreens for most of the day, I decided to go check for myself to see if it was ready. They told me they did not have a prescription for me, and when I told them I was prescribed Ritalin, they told me that Walgreens cannot do prescriptions for “these types” of medications (assuming that means ADHD meds) if the doctor is not based in the Austin area. That on its own seems dumb to me, but I can accept that. My problem is that nobody from Walgreens informed me or my doctor that the prescription could not be filled — and since they could not find a prescription for me, it sounds like they received my prescription and threw it right in the trash. I called my doctor and had the prescription moved to an H‑E‑B, but now because I didn’t find out about this until late in the day, I won’t be able to pick it up until tomorrow at the earliest. This is very frustrating, as I was counting on receiving this medication today, and if Walgreens had communicated to me earlier in the day (or at all) that they could not fill it, I probably still would have been able to pick it up today. I spoke to one of the employees about it and his explanation was essentially “We are too busy to tell people every time their prescription cannot be filled, and your doctor should have known that we wouldn’t be able to fill it.” I told him that sounds like blame shifting. The only way I found out about this was because I went there myself to check on it, but if I had continued to wait for a text from them like I had been told, I would have wasted even more time before being able to receive this medication. TLDR: Really horrible communication (and lack of taking responsibility) from the pharmacy to the customer led to me having to push my prescription to a different pharmacy, and I can no longer pick up today."

"I strongly suggest finding any other pharmacy to fill you prescriptions. Prescriptions have often been late and communication about their availability has been spotty. Finally, while waiting for my latest medication for over three weeks, they sent a letter saying I would no longer be receiving any medication from Walgreens. When calling about why they canceled, they told me that they don’t accept anymore prescriptions from my prescriber and to “find a new doctor”. Deeply frustrated by the whole process over the last month and don’t wish this situation on anyone."

"If you happened to get your medicine in anytime frame less than half and hour from the time the pharmacy says your prescription is ready, just consider yourself super lucky. The pharmacy inside this store is one of the worse ever pharmacies I have ever experienced. Do yourself a favor and avoid this pharmacy as much as you can."

"I checked Google Maps to see if you were open so I could pick up my scripts. I get there it's a few minutes after 4pm and the store is closed. The only option was going through drive-thru and I'm a pedestrian, this makes it very difficult to get my prescriptions which my life does depend on them. When I called as I was standing outside the woman who answered was very rude and unhelpful, put me on hold then was disconnected. To my understanding you were short-staffed, maybe if you treated your employees better and paid them a living wage you wouldn't have this problem. Get your act together, there are other pharmacies in this city, I suggest everyone switch to somewhere else like I'm going to. You just lost a customer, my insurance will not be paying you over $10,000 a month on Pharmacy Scripts anymore! Good riddance to the management of this store!"

"I’ve been struggling with this pharmacy since I moved here. They charged me full price for my prescription. twice saying my insurance doesn’t cover the prescription. I’ve called my insurance multiple times, each time telling me it’s covered. I finally just ended up switching my prescription and today they turned me away saying they were closed for lunch. While I understand 1:25 is cutting it close to their 1:30 lunch time, they were still within operating hours."
