"Ace Hardware in Mendota, IL On May 2, 2023 I took an aluminum window frame to have the glass replaced. I was assured by the manager they would have it done in one day, or by at the latest, by the end of the week. I left the window frame and went home. About 30 minutes later I received a call that they would not be able to repair the window and to come pick it up. When I returned, I was told to go to the back and pick it up. When I picked the frame up, the frame came apart. It seems they broke the clips that hold the frame together. No explanation, no manager visible. I decided it was futile to ask and possibly get upset, so I just to took my business to Dixon Glass. Dixon Glass had to replace the broken clips in the aluminum frame snd replace the glass. Dixon glass was done in 1 hour!"
"Took 45 minutes to mix one gallon of paint. He almost mixed a different color with a similar name because the correct color wasn’t going through on the computer and just wasn’t going to tell me. I also asked for a specific brand of paint base and he switched it for a cheaper one without asking. Luckily I caught it before he added the color. An entirely frustrating experience that took way too much time out of my day due to employee incompetence. I will keep my Ace visits to Dixon location only from here on out"
"This Ace Hardware is a favorite of ours. We have worked with several employees that take care of our questions and needs diligently during our visits. My last visit I had the pleasure of working with Wayne in the paint department. He was so helpful with finding TSP for me, which is a pre-wood cleaner before painting. He answered all my paint questions like what's latex paint. He helped me find a hard cabinet, door & trim paint. He mixed the pigment in for one of the cans. Even while assistant me we professionally took another customer's questions. Very nice man. Wayne keep up the good work in customer care. You deserve a lot of credit."
