"I wish I could give 0 stars. The service at this place is ridiculous. I’ve been here to eat a few times and I love their food but due to the type of customer service in this place I won’t be eating here anymore. The person behind the register is absolutely rude. I know other people that have experienced bad customer service due to the staff at this place. Particularly the women with blonde hair and dark eyebrows."

"I just left after ordering several meals, my son wanted to eat there but the service is horrendous. I asked for limes-COMPLETELY NORMAL FOR A MEXICAN RESTAURANT and she said "no, we charge for them." Confused because WHAT MEXICAN establishment charges for LIMES??? I reiterated just to clarify and she gave an attitude and her coworker joined her that they indeed do charge for LIMES. I told my son we were going to eat at home-the food we already purchased and as I was walking out the employee with black tattoo eyebrows and blonde hair said "do you have a problem Señora??" I said "it's just crazy you guys charge for something like limes" She then proceeded to say "well go buy them at the store." -_- there's a reason we only went there because the other Mexican chicken place was closed, now- never again. They are horrible. The food is ok- my husband likes it, but with service like that, I'm surprised they're still in business."

"I have tried to order birria tacos in the past when visiting on a Friday. I was told it's served only on the weekend. To them this means Saturday and Sunday. We visited on Saturday and ordered 3 birria tacos. I got a plate woth 3 tacos on it but no consomme. I asked at the counter. The young woman walked in the kitchen. There was a hushed conversation and she eventually returned with a little bit of consomme in a styro cup. One of the other women came up and told me "We don't usually give the consomme with the birria tacos. We'll make a special exception this time." I have ordered birria all over this country. LosAngeles, Dallas, Houston, most recently in Franklin, KY. It has always been served with consomme. I've never had to ask for it. I am put off by this. El Rey del Pollo Asado makes good tacos, burritos, and charo beans and I'll be back for them. But is there really any reason to order birria if you have to beg for the consomme? I brought this up to a couple of my Mexican colleagues while we were at lunch and they confirmed what I felt. You order birria. You get consomme."

"I'd have to say from el pollo loco fan this is just as good. I've been to the one in Waukegan and fell in love with the rey. But they have become soo busy that the chicken isn't quite as cooked as I would like it to be. Went to the one in Round Lake, and I absolutely love the flavor of the stuff that I got. The flavor is exactly what I was craving... Authentic mexican chicken tacos!!!! Please support this business because Id hate to see it leave..."

"I have for decades eaten from Waukegan location, so fresh. Here that chicken smell funny, we thought is was the salsa , wasn’t fresh and my husband just ate a bit and got food poisoning. I know they are suppose to have the chicken ready but it was too fast , customer service was ugh, but worst part , the food , not fresh and funny taste. My daughter loves the Mac and cheese from waukegan and she couldn’t try this one. Never again in this location! Be careful if you buy here."
