"This place may look great for the price however they will do whatever they can to take all of your money. They took more than half of our $3,400 dollar deposit from our 4 roomates and attributed it to wall paintings , floor remodeling and hiring an additional cleaning service because they wanted us to use a service they recommended instead. We left this apartment in great shape and the fact they refused to give this money back or even speak to us about it is an outrage. You are better off in an expensive West campus apartment or riverside. I hope this helps future students and I am so disappointed in this place."

"They charged us $800 for 'paint' at the end of our lease and almost $500 for floor cleaning when we had our floors professionally cleaned by a cleaner that they recommended. While my time there was decent the nature of the management taking advantage of college kids is not very kind at end of lease charges."

"Dirty apartments with pest problems when I moved in. Asked property managers for pest control, pest control guy showed up, said everything looked fine, and left without doing anything despite the obvious presence of roaches. 512 living never resolved this issue. Additionally the pool attracts a lot of people who don’t even live at Lone Star Lofts to show up, have a big loud party, and leave without cleaning up, so expect lots of trash and whiteclaw cans littered all throughout the common areas. Gross place to live with unhelpful management."

"these are some of the worst apartments i’ve ever lived in. I’ve already looked over the “move out instructions” and when we moved into the apartment there’s no way in hell it was professionally cleaned before us much less maintained at all. The washer was malfunctioning since the day we moved in and continuously stopped working randomly for months until management at the apartment finally said it needed to be replaced. we live under the stairs where it’s almost always noisy from people yelling and stomping up the stairs and still pay the exact same amount as everyone else. Management is rarely nice unless they know they’re violating your lease by neglecting their apartments. After reading the other reviews I already know we won’t get our security deposit back and I completely regret ever living here. all they care about is taking your money and if you live here I promise you’ll regret it too."

"Don’t expect to get your $700 security deposit back at the end of your lease. My roommate and I had our apartment professionally cleaned and we followed the move out instructions but we got 1/3 of our deposit returned to us. They racked up an absurd amount of fees for things that my roommate and I had no control of, they were simply problems with the overall maintenance of the apartment complex itself. It appears that Lonestar installs the lowest quality appliances and then they charge you when everything stops working just to rip off their tenants. We would have to dry clothes 2 to 3 times in order for them to actually dry and when we requested that they fix it the guy must’ve done something to the washing machine because the next time we used it it flooded our apartment. I used a command strip so as not to damage the paint but the paint they use is so crappy and thin that when I removed the command strip it took off a piece of the paint and they charged me for the entire wall of paint—$57.50! The hot tub is rarely turned on. You have to constantly call and ask for it to be heated. The elevator is broken most of the time. The third floor in particular always had trash laying out in the walkway that would stay there for months and there was even a used toilet and human feces in the walkway at one point. We contested the fee they charged us for taking the batteries out of the smoke detector which we never touched the entire year and she said she would look into it to give us our money back, but she never did. And the pictures they took to prove these damages were blurry, dark, bad quality photos. I gave 3 stars because I lived there for 2 years and the first year I don’t recall any problems but this past year I don’t know if management changed but the management now at 512Living is just out to steal your money. The first year I lived there all we did at move out was have the apartment professionally cleaned and we got our entire deposit back. Also if you don’t like natural light these apartments are great for you"
