"I lived here for 2 years while getting my bachelors at UNT. The complex isn’t quite walking distance to campus, but it’s less than 10 min or less away from UNT by bike, bus (free for students) or car. Rent is… competitive, but high considering the lack of any kind of amenities, no covered parking and lackluster support from the office. It is arguably too much for what it is, yet that seems to be the norm nowadays, so it’s reasonable I guess. I have a friend who lived here from 2017 - 2021 and it was $750/mo. When I moved in the rent for a 2BR was 1,050/mo… well when I renewed my lease it went up to $1,350/mo and the place still looks run down. It is an older complex, and it shows. Things like the internet being retrofitted, telephone line hookups in most rooms etc… but it’s comfortable, for short term college living, however I would not recommend making this a 10y+ apartment. Pros: - Close to UNT main campus (walking is a stretch, but you can bike, bus or drive) - 2 bedroom options are affordable compared to other apartments - Not /that/ run down for how old the complex is - Close drive to University rd, which has all the shopping you’ll need - Pet friendly (2 pet limit), and they allow well behaved pets over the weight limit - mailbox attached to unit, easy access (but very small) - Next to unit storage (enough room for a few boxes, a bike, it’s honesty spacious) - Internet speeds. I paid for the 100 gigs down/up package from spectrum, worked well - Washer/dryer hookup (2BR ONLY) - Only 4 units per building, so noise and smells are not common - On site dog trash bags, and trash cans for waste - Parking is easy - Plenty of storage - A/C is super effective - Walking distance to a small playground/park Cons: - Road noise (expect to hear every single dude who thinks loud cars are cool) - Frequent accidents at the intersection next to the complex. - Floors are paper thin, so if you are on the ground floor, you WILL hear every step your upstairs neighbor(s) take. Upstairs neighbors, please take note of this. - Cockroaches, and other bugs. - No balcony options - No microwave included - No on site entertainment, pool, or gym - Laundry building has been run down for months, only 2BR have washer dryer hookups. - Breaker often trips when using more than one cooking device in the kitchen. I cannot use a microwave and toaster at the same time on the same circuit. - Dumpsters are far away and always overfull. - Had an issue with AC my first summer. - Water damage to my neighbors apartment, water was standing on all their floors. Turns out an underground pipe had a leak, a crew fixed it in under 24hrs (which is amazing timing) but water had to be shut off, and all my neighbors stuff was damaged by an inch of standing water. - Incident where a sketchy individual attempted to open my door at 4am. (I recommend a doorbell camera.) - No covered parking. - Very limited “visitor parking” spaces, and they are ALWAYS taken by residents or broken down cars. - 24/7 towing enforced. Had a friend stay at my place for an hour (7-8pm) and was towed. - Constant construction around the complex. - Doors only have one lock. As a Texas resident, you are allowed to deny entry to landlords, know your rights! This place isn't amazing, and the leasing office hardly ever does anything to fix issues residents have. As I stated, the laundry building has been out of operation basically since I moved in. The place is comfortable enough for "cheap" living. But I would not recommend making this a long term living situation. Also, when I first moved in, it looked as if they just painted over all imperfections in the walls. There are holes, nails, screws, cracks etc... that are just painted over. They even painted over switches and outlets, so I had to use a toothpick to get the paint out of almost all outlets when I moved in."
"I lived at these apartments for 2 years and the people who run it are so kind , efficient at their job, and super flexible and understanding. I was always able to get maintenance to help in a timely fashion. These aren't super new apartments but they did really well for me! The price was very reasonable too and I never felt unsafe in these apartments. If I had been wanting to stay in Denton still I would have continued to stay at Bonnie Green for sure!"
"DO NOT rent with Struga Management, that's the name of the company that owns Bonnie Green Apartments and several other properties all over Denton Texas. My renting tenure with Bonnie Green was only one year , during that time the maintenance staff along with higher management was absolutely horrible. My personal life was being meddled with by the maintenance staff that felt the need to "check in" on me and report to management about my way of living, they raised false accusations about people living with me, along with invading my privacy by going into my apartment without my consent and going through my personal items with ridiculous excuses to do so. The situation only got worse as time went by, one day my son was riding his bicycle around the property, he was approached by one of the management people, this guy started yelling at my son with obscene and repulsive words . My son tried to explain the person that he lived there but this guy continued to yell at him, the rest of the maintenance crew, that was present at the time , did nothing to ease the situation. My son came home and explained to me what happen. I have everything recorded but haven't presented the recording to the police yet. If you are thinking about renting here, do not do it. Pay a bit more somewhere else but don't rent here. Dont have your private life exposed or meddled with by this company."
"The apartment is almost everything I wanted space wise and wood flooring wise but there is a serious roach problem. They do not have a contract with any exterminator so you have to invest in to roach killer. Oh by the way. The roaches just get mad and run towards you when you spray them . when I moved in I was told that a cleaning crew would have the apartment clean. That did not happen. I had to clean the apartment then move my stuff in. There are no smoke alarms in my apartment. I'm trying to figure out how I have big electric bill but I can seem to get heat in my apartment when it is cold. There is only one maintenance guy that works 24/7 (literally) and was nice to let us use his washer and dryer since the apartment management can't buy their washers and dryers. Correction there was one maintenance guy but thanks to new management he is gone and no one can do laundry. There seems to be people living in the laundry room on cold days. Oh and I never got an explanation for that one day when the whole block was surrounded by Denton police, Denton county sheriff's, and state troopers . just thought it was a little weird to come home and law enforcement was surrounding the complex. However the are pet friendly I have a nice walk in closet , outside storage and a lovely vanity. Location is super close to shopping, entertainment and dining. Close to campus and bars right off 35 which is great except on home games and anything that brings large crowds to the new stadium . on the 4th of July you should just stay home or leave and stay gone because Bonnie Brae st becomes a nightmare."
"This apt complex needs to be demolished and completely remodeled. It's super old so everything falls apart. We paid to move in end of July, and we didn't have PLUMBING or an AC until end of Aug. The toilet didn’t work so we had to literally go to Wal-Mart to the bathroom. We were told that the guy before us was disgusting, by OUR NEIGHBORS, not management, so when we moved in, we were alerted that we needed to DEEP clean the whole apt before setting out stuff down. The toilet was so dirty that when we moved in it was grey. I assumed that was discoloration, but when I started cleaning it, it turns out it was actually white, but it was just so dirty, it was under all of the nastiness from the previous tenant. The bathroom floor was lopsided.. The only silver lining was that because the previous tenant was disgusting, so they changed the carpets. We had a giant leak in our kitchen from the time we moved in and it NEVER got fixed. It was from the dishwasher and we even told them that we didn't use a dishwasher so we'd rather just have all the lines to it cut off. And I wish I was almost done with this review but I'm not. We also didn't have a working smoke alarm until March. We didn't have an outside light until February. And now to get to the roach problem. Roach problem was so bad that we couldn't live there. There were roaches everywhere. The roaches were the worst in the kitchen, crawling all over the counters, within the stove, over the stove. We couldn't leave any food out for more than a minute without a roach popping up. German cockroaches everywhere. They were so bad, they were in our microwave. Not just in the microwave when you open the door, I'm talking about in the microwave when you turned it on, you could see them crawling in the metal of it. We bought that microwave and we just left it there. We tried so hard to call maintenance, but there's only 1 guy for the entire complex, it's not possible for him to do all the work. Mgmt wouldn't pick up the phone. We called all the time, we'd get sent to voicemail, or it wouldn't stop ringing. We tried to break our lease, they said at first it wasn't possible because we hadn't given them 3 official notices, but there wasn't a way for us to contact them in the first place. We had a really long conversation with them, and they tried to convince us they'd get all of our issues fixed within the week. Obviously didn’t happen. Let alone getting it fixed, no one even showed up to assess the issue. Thankfully, I could count on them not showing up and living up to their promises, so we were able to leave within three weeks. Also, the apartment complex was really unsafe. The lights were really low at night, and there were a couple times where you could hear people just screaming at each other. It was scary to get from your car to the apartment complex because of how dark it was. I really wouldn't advise ANYONE to live there, unless roaches make you happy and you never live there."
