"I will never stay anywhere else. So close to everything but so far away from the crazy. My next trip out of town I may come back to Austin just to be in this house again. Thank you to our hosts who were so nice and wonderful. I would have been so uncomfortable leaving my car in a traditional hotel parking lot, so thankful they had a private drive for guests. They have a house manager who was really nice and friendly. I could go on, I just can’t say enough wonderful things about this place."

"College friends spent a reunion weekend together in conjunction with the Texas Book Festival, and had a lovely stay at Strickland Arms. This was a relaxed and relaxing bed and breakfast in a beautiful Austin mansion. Our hosts were helpful, gracious, and accommodating as well. It’s not a hotel, and there are stairs involved, but hands down, we would recommend the Strickland, and would love to plan a return trip."

"This location is perfect. It is in a quiet neighborhood and I felt safe. Off-street parking surrounded by shade trees was lovely. The grounds are amazing with gorgeous statues, a fountain, and pool. The front and back porches have plenty of space and separate seating areas. As others have mentioned, breakfasts weren't over the top as they were in the other B&Bs I visited this trip. A warm breakfast is served at 9am. Since I needed to explore the Austin area, I didn't want to wait until 9. I grabbed pastries, fruit and coffee and hit the tourism road. The place is in need of some updating and organization."

"I fell in love with this place the moment I laid eyes on it. It's a beautiful, historic oasis with a clean pool. The backyard was done beautifully. The house and rooms have their own unique charm. The bed was clean and comfortable. They had regular towels and pool towels laid out for you. There's also a mini fridge in the dining room and by the rooms upstairs stocked with water, milk, ice, etc. You may also use them for your own drinks that you bring. Waking up to the sound of the backyard fountain was amazing. We had muffins, croissants, fruits, and cereal for breakfast, but you can request a hot meal. There's also a coffee bar with to-go cups. They've truly thought of everything!! It's also a bonus that it's close to the interstate but not close enough to hear city noise. Everything was about 10-20 minutes away. The furthest we had to drive was McKinney Falls (~35 min)."

"Okay, first of all I must say that Mr and Mrs Strickland we're amazing hosts. They treated us with care and respect as if we were family. If you like historical houses you must see this place. The hardwood floors on the first floor or original White Oak. They have a parlor set up, they have a formal dining room set up. The place is amazing and appears to be historically correct. There is a wrap around porch with comfortable chairs and small tables for visits with friends. The rooms are very comfortable and relatively sound proof. They have spent a lot of time and money restoring this home. Even if you don't stay there please, walk in the front door and speak to either of them. They will gladly give you a tour of the entire facility. They have a pool, and a spa that is in a secluded Alcove. There is an outdoor fireplace by the pool that they always have stock with firewood ready to go. Seriously, if you like historic houses and b&bs and are in downtown Austin you owe it to yourself to see this amazing place."
