"Service seriously lacking at this overpriced “boutique”. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes for your valet’d car. Bar is rarely open, even though the whole hotel was packed. Stopped by for food or drinks maybe 8 times and there was only a bar tender there once lol. Rooms had furniture with obvious wear and tear. Looks like they went with budget mid century furniture with the quality of china. AC takes 12 hours to get to temp. Rooms are semi quiet. The place is dog friendly, which is about its only redeeming quality. If you’re paying over $200/night for this hotel you’re being robbed."

"One of my fave spots to come charge my Tesla, service is top-notch and its just easier to dine in instead. The food is amazing, you may be waiting a bit on a busy night but totally worth it for some good food. I ordered the plain burger & fries. The espresso cocktail is HORRIBLE though, it’s the worst I’ve ever had unfortunately but I am just hoping it was a one-time thing."

"Austin is one of our favorite cities, and once we stayed at the SoCo, we were ruined for all the other hotels! The staff is wonderful, from the long haired doorman/valet/pro sprinter (literally runsss around the block for the cars!) to the ever so helpful front desk staff answering our too many questions about good coffee or great margaritas, this charming place is it. Shout out to housekeeping as well; the beds were sooo perfectly made and the space so clean I could walk barefoot! I never do that, so I actually did not, but I could have!!!! Modern with lots of concrete and leather, muted with pops of color, fast elevators, comfy beds with wonderful pillows, and oh…the shower! The warmth, the pressure, the relaxation! This does lead to overtime showers, so I had to wipe the giant (biggest framed full-length monster you ever saw!) mirror with a washcloth, but that’s what I get for staying under the rain-shower head for so long. Weirdly, the mirrors stayed totally clear instead of re-fogging… At any rate (see what I did there?), this hotel is worth the bill; unsurpassed sleep situation, sleek decor, lots of spread out your stuff space, morning coffee was good, liked my breakfast, Maie Day across the courtyard had great brunch and cocktails, it’s right in the middle of the best of Congress, and they treat you like a special guest- Five stars, don’t know how they do it."

"Be careful of hidden fees. Staff was cool. Rooms were nice. But since my employer covered my room charge I just put my credit card down for incidentals. I got a $70 charge on my credit card for “amenity” fee. They say this is for the things like the free coffee they offer in the morning and I should have been told this at check in. LOL! This is totally ridiculous. It’s not free coffee if they secretly charge you $70. OMG"

"This hotel is like expensive lipstick on a pig. The lobby and common areas make you believe the guest rooms will be fabulous, but don't be fooled. Most of the good reviews are for people who never even stayed in the rooms. The rooms are tiny, the floors are cheap, buckled laminate, and are dirty. There is very little lighting in the rooms, and they are suspended from their wires on a pole system that was intended to be "Austin Chic" but really is like a dorm room experiment. There is no fan in the bathroom, so the room fills up with steam when you shower, and the windows don't open so it's like living in a jungle. The noise from the events penetrated our second-floor room. And, for all this, we paid almost twice the going rate as part of a room block for a wedding. I guess it was the very common "wedding tax" you hear about all the time. The location is good for shopping and nightlife, so if you are into shopping and glamping, go for it. If you prefer comfort, go somewhere else."
