"The friendly folks behind this little hotel Got us out of a pickle when we had car issues and had to spend an extra night in Terlingua. Excellent service, clean room, and great location walkable to tacos, Coffee, and live music at The Boathouse bar. THANK YOU, S, for helping us out of a jam!"

"I have had the liberty of staying in the High Sierra Hotel more than once in the Terlingua Historic District. In 2016 I made a week-long photographic journey to Big Bend and Terlingua to gather material for my book project "TEXAS BADLANDS: The Ultimate Black and White Journey" (now available on Amazon) due to the central location of the Historic District and the iconic Terlingua Cemetery. Some of the amazing 35mm shots of High Sierra/El Dorado Hotel can be found in the book as part of the Historic District in Chapter 3 "Living Ghost Town." The rooms are nice and clean perfect for a badlands romp by a nomadic bushwacker like me, don't expect the amenities of a Grand Hotel in Terlingua, Texas......you better be humble. No complaints whatsoever here, but keep in mind sometimes the water systems in Study-Butte/Terlingua experience problems and if someone is above you in the room on the same water heater setup, you may have to wait for the hot water to replenish etc. but you'll live."

"Nothing fancy but it’s clean and it felt safe. Not sure the 180 is a fair price for the room condition, but for the area it’s comparable to other establishments. They stated that they are updating all the rooms then they will go for over 300 a night. I would stay again as the staff was nice and they stocked our room with towels daily and took the trash out."

"Super nice staff!! Rooms have been updated/renovated. Dogs/pets are welcome. You can even bring your dog with you to eat at the attached High Sierra Bar and Grill. Which has some of the best Pomegranate Margaritas I have ever had!! All the staff members are really nice. The location close to the Terlingua Ghost Town, and if you don't get to stay at the hotel due to no vacancy there is a wonderful little RV Park just a mile away."

"We really liked staying here. The proximity to Big Bend Park was about 15 minutes, great for us! The food at the grill on site was tasty. We enjoyed the music and the sunsets could not be beat. The staff seemed to get along well as well as they were very attentive and personable. Tamara was very helpful with local suggestions as far as food, etc. We could tell new owners were putting effort to make improvements on the property. This area is quite remote, so getting a place to stay that was clean and bug free was a plus. There was no TV, but we did have WIFI. We went to Big Bend to hike and enjoy nature, not to hang out in the hotel. We were not looking for a pool, weight room, etc. We live pretty far away, but would certainty recommend this place to our friends. Thanks again for an enjoyable stay! Tina Russ"
