Butchertown Flats

"tl;dr - This place keeps changing its name for a reason. We had to live with a squirrel that burrowed through our ceiling and made a nest for months, mold in the walls, endless cockroaches, trash left by contractors, and an "upgraded" sink that collapsed, broke all of our dishes, and leaked water on the floor for days. I see this place has changed it's name again and so my review has been deleted a second time, but our experience was so horrible I feel morally compelled to leave a warning for anyone considering living here. Me and my roommates had to live with a squirrel that found its way into the roof and burrowed through the ceiling in one of the bedrooms. Management refused to fix it for several months. We had to resort to trying to duct-tape the hole to keep the squirrel's nest from falling on us while sleeping. We also had do deal with mold growing on several of the walls but the mold was not deemed unsafe so they did nothing about it. When they took over they also decided our kitchen needed "upgrades" so they had contractors come in and replace our lights and sink. The lights they installed were new, but they were a different shape so there was a massive long discoloration in the ceiling where the old lights were and they never got around to fixing that while we lived there. The sink was also installed poorly and after a couple of days it completely collapsed, started leaking water on the floor, and shattered all of the dishes we had in it. We put in a request to have it fixed but they ignored it for days until I called and literally screamed at them. Yes, they didn't have a problem with water constantly leaking on a second story floor as long as the resident, and whoever was unlucky enough to live underneath us, didn't put up too much of a fuss (and, of course, they never offer to pay for the broken dishes). After all these "upgrades" they also decided that the property was worth more so when our lease was up for renewal the rent jumped from $750 to $1,200-$1,500. Can't even imagine what they're trying to charge these days. We wound up calling a couple of attorneys trying to figure out what our options were, if we could get some money back for having an unusable room because of the squirrel nest in the ceiling for example. But there are none. If you sign a lease, you are locked into it."

"I'll give this place a 4 because they did make attempts to change things around from when I moved on the property many years ago. Unfortunately me and my sister both fell on hard times but Kathy the landlord definitely looked out as well as Blanca her assistant. Out of our current price range is the main issue. Gave it 4 stars as well now with more kids on property every weekend they seem to enjoy knocking on everyone's doors and running off and stealing Christmas decorations. But overall it was not a bad place to live for anyone in the future definitely some chill vibes going met some cool folks definitely going to miss it"

"I have lived in this complex for 23 yrs, and by far Butcher town has stepped up to the plate. I've never had a problem with insects, not sure why others do. The pics people are posting are OLD pics. Yes the property has age as it was built in the 60s but as WE ALL AGE WE HAVE MINOR issues as well. The last thing I have to say is IF YOU DON"T LIKE IT HERE MOVE. I for one love it here, neighbors are respectful , and the courtesy officer is a big help he handles problems that arise quickly. The office staff are friendly when you walk in the office they all smile and call you by name"

"This apartment complex is making a comeback. I didn’t have any personal pest problems while I was there but I lived tidy. There were gnats and flies in the summer but that’s just managing the drains during the hot days. They promptly got to the problems that I had whether it was a broken toilet paper roll or a closet door fallen down. 4 stars only because we had some issues at the beginning but they were kind enough to move my apartment to a new unit. Ultimately I got my security deposit back because I took care of my apartment as if I’d owned it myself. The front office people are kind, but not robots. Treat them like people and you’ll get the treatment you want back. I lived there an entire year and this was my experience."

"Apartments are well kept and nice. The office staff are great. Danny has been my leasing agent, he is professional and always answering any concerns i have had. I recommend all my family & friends looking for a place in the louisville area. I’ve had experiences with multiple apartment complexes, this is by far the best one with amazing staff."
