About the Business

Early Learning Center of Lubbock

The Early Learning Center of Lubbock, located at 2714 Erskine Street in Lubbock, Texas, is a school dedicated to educating and nurturing young children and their families for successful futures. Established in 1943, Carver Heights was the first of five Early Learning Centers in East Lubbock, with a mission to provide affordable early childhood education on a sliding-scale fee basis. Today, the institution operates five centers serving North and East Lubbock, offering quality interactions to lay the foundation for future learning.

The Early Learning Centers provide an educational, hands-on program to help all children grow and develop in their own unique way, ensuring that they are Kindergarten ready upon leaving the program. Additionally, the institution offers a nutritional program through the Child and Adult Food Program, providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks to children each day at no additional cost.

With centers easily accessible via major highways, the Early Learning Centers of Lubbock have received positive feedback from parents who appreciate the affordability, quality of care, and communication from staff and leadership. As a United Way Community Partner, the institution is dedicated to helping children reach important milestones in life. "Anissa decided to randomly kick out my son from this daycare. I recorded our conversation prior, and stated "we will be looking into other daycares immediately" - she didn't give anyone a heads up. Anissa reports to Lena and both are extremely sensitive and had NO right to drop my son from daycare. Heads up they do not clean the kiddos correctly after changes, and the boss is always in the office not working! They need to do a serious clean up inside the establishment, and hire new management asap. Anissa has dropped the ball multiple times prior with drs notes, and gets mad when you complain. Anissa will drop your child from the center if you complain."

"I love the environment here at Talkington Early Learning Center. My child has thrived since attending and the ratio of teachers per child is the best. Too many children per teacher in a class can hinder the learning, but I never have to worry about that here. He is always happy, fed, clean, and well cared for every day. He has learned so much from the different activities they have and the pricing is hard to beat. The Director Judy is also so kind and is always available."
