"It was a real treat to visit. Being from a small town and then moving to Houston, Lucy's was a real taste of home. The food was outstanding."
"I ordered the fried pork chops. It was a disappointment. They were as bland as bland could be. All the coating just fell off when I cut into it. Whatever process they use to coat the chops doesn't work. If coated properly, the coating shouldn't fall off of any fried food. I ate most of it despite the circumstances because I was starving and it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't good. I can not comment on other dishes, but this experience was bad enough for me not to return. Your mileage may vary."
"My Wife and I went to support the local business. The ambiance is homemade and the service was like the scene in a movie. The host and waitress was nice. However, it took awhile for us to get our food (maybe they were understaffed). The serving size were pretty big for your money’s worth. The food was tasty and well seasoned. If you live in Elgin, and like breakfast, support your local restaurant. Give Lucy’s Kitchen a try."
"The Chicken Fried Steak is great! The brown Gravy was the best I’ve had in a while. Don’t let the look deter you from going in and tasting the great food served up here. Nice little place, staff was fast and attentive. Large open area, lots of tables. Great location in downtown Elgin. The pies and cakes looked amazing."
"WOW!! Great, home style food. One of the quirkiest menu options was “Cheesy Chicken”… OMG!! A tender, tasty, thin chicken breast fried in an amazing batter, then queso and green onions on top. With Crispy onion rings and green beans. Just wow! The wife got the Grilled mushroom Swiss chicken with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Super tender and juicy! We saw a wicked looking Chicken Fried Steak abs Chicken Fried Chicken come out… will have to try that next time. The pies looked great too, but not enough room this time. Definitely a must stop place. Not for the decor… but the local, home made flavors and neighborly conversation."
