China Buffet

"The hostess was sweet, but that would the ONLY thing nice about the place. My husband and I sat down and got one plate each of disgusting food. We went to management and he still charged us $20 and had the audacity to say "I took half off". We were okay with paying for the drinks and would have given a few bucks since we did put food on a plate, but the food was cold, unappetizing, and the first two plates I picked up were dirty. We stayed civil but I couldn't just let this go without letting people know it's a waste of money and the place is just gross."

"The food is never consistently hot. The serving line temperature needs to be recalibrated. They need to be recorded hourly. If the food falls below 135, remove and reheat. When the food is hot, I like it. The tables are sticky due to finish and humidity. Napkin holders could be cleaner. Ice cream box needs help. Wonder what they score on health department inspection? Should be publicly posted."

"What can I say about this place…. I’ve been going here every so often since I’ve moved to bastrop in 2010 and I can say that a lot has declined with this place. From the food quality to the customer service occasionally, and let’s not forget about the dated furniture… which I can deal with but dusty/grimey partitions and seats is the main reason why I typically get my orders to go if I even go there these days. The decline of everything pertaining this place could be easily fixed if they shut down for a day or 2 cleaned that place from top to bottom, got rid of the old torn furniture, maybe throw in a new dish every so often, and did some customer service training things would be great."

"Absolutely disgusting! I decided to give this place a try because there aren’t many food options in the area, & even fewer good options. The smell that hit me upon entering this establishment instantly turned my stomach! It smelled like a spoiled rotten fish tank! The restaurant is cluttered & doesn’t appear to be clean. The nasty filthy deep freezer against the wall definitely made me raise an eyebrow. They had random containers of food just sitting around. The fried rice is actually just yellow rice with onions, the meat is undercooked & overall nasty looking so I threw it away without even tasting it. It just looked like food poisoning in a box. I will NEVER go back to this place & I personally think the health department should probably stop in & take a look around. It seems that the construction workers who have contracting jobs in the area are what’s keeping them in business because they offer a reasonably priced lunch buffet."

"If I could give a zero star review, I would……the place was disgustingly dirty. The parking lot was way cleaner than the inside of this place. The bathrooms were SO bad. I can only imagine that the kitchen was in the same condition. The floor, carpets, and rugs looked like they had not been cleaned since the day they took possession of the building. There was grime and nasty sticky goo all over the napkin dispenser and salt and pepper shakers at our table. We went hungry, and we left hungry as we were simply afraid to eat there. I pointed out all of the pictures I took to the lady at the front counter as we walked out. She said “ohhhh, I show the boss”…..more like the health department needs to pay them a visit. We were in town for work, and know that if we are ever back, that is one place we will be avoiding. So gross. I have seen many of livestock barns in cleaner conditions than this China Buffet."
