About the Business
Denton Independent Hamburger, located at 507 West University Drive in Denton, Texas, is a beloved food institution known for its delicious burgers and friendly atmosphere. Originally known as Denton County Independent Hamburger Company, the restaurant was purchased by Radical Hospitality in 2012. After closing the downtown location and rebranding it as Lone Star Attitude Burger Company, the original owner, Kim Kitchens, continued to operate the Sunset Street location. In 2018, Mike Barnett purchased the Sunset operation and relocated it to the current University Drive location.
Despite plans for a new DCIHC location in Argyle, Denton Independent Hamburger and the future Argyle store will operate independently with separate ownership. The restaurant prides itself on its history, quality food, and welcoming environment, and looks forward to continuing to serve the Denton community.

"I went to this place about a year ago. It was great the first two times. Then it started to decline. I went today and got an overcooked what seems like left over fries and a hockey-puck for a patty. It was so dry. I am disappointed because it's expensive for the level of food quality. You also cannot choose how you want the burger cooked. I don't know if it's worth going back. 3 stars for atmosphere because staff are always nice."
"AMAZING!!! Perhaps the BEST HAMBURGER I have had this century. The chicken fried steak is one of the best I have ever had. Staff was friendly. People were coming in the entire time I was there. Everyone was excited to get one of their meals. I'm from Garland and will make the drive again just to eat here."
"Still open, just in a new location. I think it looks nicer than the old location. Good homemade type burgers with generous portions in a casual country diner type atmosphere. I had the hickory burger and the hickory sauce is awesome. Conveniently located for me plus they’re part of some good rewards programs I use, so I’m sure I’ll be back soon!"

"I saw this place on Instagram and knew I wanted to check it out. We got the hickory burger and the sauce is amazing! We also got the chili cheese burger based off an employee’s recommendation and it was phenomenal. The chili was so delicious. You can get unlimited fries or beans on the side. Definitely recommend stopping by. All of the employees were so friendly."
