About the Business

Hart House

Hart House, located in Eufaula, Alabama, is a historic home built around 1850 by John Hart. This Greek Revival style house was once the headquarters of the Historic Chattahoochee Commission and is one of the town's oldest buildings. The Hart family, including John Hart, his wife Elizabeth, and their 11 children, lived in the house at various times. The house features original heart pine floors, moldings, and pocket doors, as well as a central hallway, parlor, dining room, and symmetrical bedrooms. The exterior retains much of its original appearance, with a wide entry porch and fluted Doric columns. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and is part of the Seth Lore and Irwinton Historic District. Today, the Hart House is a significant landmark in Eufaula, preserving the history of the town and the Hart family.
