"I can’t speak highly enough of Coach Rich and SWAT. We move around a lot and have always had a child on a swim team. SWAT by far is the best team we’ve found! Coach Rich is amazing with kids elementary age to high school. He’s got the years of experience and does not coach by yelling or ever getting angry. SWAT does not require your child to compete in swim meets. No volunteering required. No Saturday or early morning practices. You get to pick the races your child competes in if you choose to do a swim meet. There’s 3 levels for the swim team. We don’t live in Fairhope and make the drive because of Coach Rich :) Important things you should know: SWAT has payments setup 3 months at a time. You will need a pool membership through the Fairhope Rec Center Nextdoor. Before you think that’s a lot of $ consider your alternative. The only other local swim team is at the Daphne YMCA. Take note how long it takes the Daphne Swim Team Coach vs Coach Rich to get back to you ;) I was told parents are not allowed to watch the swim team practices in Daphne because there’s no room and the YMCA does not require a membership for the swim team. Who doesn’t want to watch their child swim? I was told I could stand OUTSIDE of the rollup doors and watch! SWAT is a year round swim team. My swimmer has done other sports while being on SWAT. The best results we’ve seen is when she focuses just on SWAT. If your child is a student at Fairhope High School it’s my understanding there is a bus that goes from the high school to the Fairhope Recreation Center/Pool. Here’s the current levels, prices and schedule: Level 1: Beginning-level competitive swimmers must be able to swim 50 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke. Ages 6-11 $345 Practice Time: Monday - Thursday @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm Friday @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm Level 2: Intermediate-level competitive swimmers. Must be able to swim 200 yards of Freestyle and Backstroke. Ages 8-15 $420 Practice Time: Monday - Thursday @ 5:30 - 7:00 pm Friday @ 5:00 - 6:00 pm Level 3: Advanced Competitive Swimmers.
