About the Business

The Thrift Store, by Evansville Rescue Mission, located at 1107 Washington Square in Evansville, Indiana, offers a wide variety of gently used clothing, furniture, appliances, household items, and more. By shopping at our thrift store, you not only find great deals but also support the life-changing work of Evansville Rescue Mission.

What sets our thrift store apart is that residents of our P.A.C.E.S. program volunteer at the store, gaining valuable retail experience and interacting with the public. All profits from your purchases directly benefit the different ministries of Evansville Rescue Mission, helping us meet the daily needs of our community.

In addition to shopping, you can enjoy Mission Grounds, a coffee shop located inside the store, offering a large menu of specialty coffee and homemade muffins. With indoor and outdoor seating, it's the perfect place to relax or catch up with friends.

If you're interested in volunteering, our thrift store offers opportunities to help unload donations, sort items, and organize the sales floor. By volunteering, you can serve the community and meet new people.

"I went here to donate my sons clothing as I was getting off of work. A man was standing outside smoking. I tried the the giant yellow door that said “donate here” and it was locked so I put my bag in the collection bin. The man smoking a cigarette was staring at me and then he asked me why I had tried to open the door. He said he worked there and informed me that if I donate there again that door will be open. I guess he meant propped open, if they were open. And he was obviously being rude about it like I had personally offended him. I guess he could have said something as I was walking up or if it’s that big of deal you could post the hours or some other signage besides “donate here”. I’ll just donate to goodwill, now instead. They always seem more than happy to help me and take my stuff. This was the single worse experience I’ve had when donating to charity."
