Centers for Pain Control and Vein Care - Valparaiso

"This place is bizarre. If you’re in pain, go somewhere else. I have a feeling all of these 5 star reviews are either bots or an opiate side effect. I was referred here by my orthopedic doctor for a second opinion. I’d been waiting for a phone call to be scheduled, had been a week, so I called my doctor to see what’s happening. My doctor called them and sent the referral again. Apparently they told my doctor I’d been discharged in 2012 (it’s 2024) and they aren’t able to see me. They didn’t bother responding until being blown up about it. Been in serious pain, and in my opinion, it’s cruel to leave somebody hanging, not respond to a referral request due to an apparent disagreement of some sort 12-13 years in the past. Very confused and trying to make sense of this, I don’t doubt that I was seen there in the past, but I have zero recollection of it. If there was a disagreement of some sort, I don’t doubt that either. This was 12+ years ago, I’m 11+ years clean of narcotics, and I was in a lot of pain when I’d allegedly seen them the first time. A lifetime ago. I’m in a lot of pain again, and I refuse to take narcotics ever again. I made sure my doctor included ‘no narcotics’ in the referral request, having experienced pain clinics before. I want that to be known in advance. I cannot imagine what could’ve happened that would be worth holding a grudge for 12-13 years, denying a human being health care, due to something they don’t remember, without any explanation. I called their office and asked for an explanation, how I can make it right, etc. The first thing the woman on the phone said to me was, “I’m not obligated to talk to you”. Aggressively rude tone, like I hadn’t just asked a fair question very politely. Was so bizarre. I mentioned I’d be leaving a review, and that I have a rather large social media following, and that’s when the woman on the phone offered to do something mildly helpful. It was close to when they closed so I don’t doubt the person she was trying to connect me with wasn’t available, and she left them a message. Same rude tone, but hey I’ll take it. I’m anticipating a phone call tomorrow explaining what exactly is happen, almost think they’ve got me confused with somebody, but the timeline matches. I will update the review accordingly and honestly when I receive an explanation. As of now, I will be passionately dissuading anybody I can from giving this office their business for the rest of my life. (This is in regards to the Valparaiso location, and I have no experience with the other locations, nor do I know any specific doctors names.) I’m 33, I don’t have dementia, I’d remember if something noteworthy happened."
