IU Health Bedford Hospital

"I brought my 5 yr old daughter to this hospital on January 25th at 2 am for a high fever, cough and vomiting. She was seen by Judith A. Wright MD and she was the sweetest physician ever and extremely kind and patient with my daughter. Did a covid and flu test all negative as well as a chest x ray and said all looked good. She gave us a diagnosis of bronchitis and prescribed anti nausea medication as well as Tylenol. My daughter had a follow appointment with her primary care physician January 25th at 2:15 pm and we were given a new diagnosis of pneumonia with antibiotics and an inhaler with a child spacer. We came back today January 26th at 2:20 am for a fever that will not subside longer than 2 hours max and that is alternating between Mortin and Tylenol every 2 hours with vomiting. We saw Judith A. Wright again and she was the rudest physician I have ever had to encounter because she was informed that she misdiagnosed my daughter. She had the audacity to say "I have 7 kids and dont even own a thermometer". Like I dont see how that is a flex, I personally see it as neglectful as kids can get super high fevers. I know both of mine do when they are sick. She Did absolutely nothing for her after being told her fever spikes up to 104.8 and varying decimal amounts in the 104 F temperature and knew the meds were not lasting longer than 2 hrs. We will never be back and will endure the drive to bloomington here on out. Will not recommend this hospital. Way worse than St Vincent hospital in Toledo OH from my personal experience. May go to the medical board not sure yet."

"I took my husband to the ER on 12/23/23 with what turned out to be appendicitis. He had excellent care! The ER doctor and staff were so nice! His surgeon, Dr. Siddiqi, was so nice and got my husband into surgery quickly. He had to stay overnight and he was so pleased with how he was cared for. We don’t have anything negative to say about Bedford IU hospital. ❤️"

"My 94 year old Daddy was admitted into the ICU at this hospital and an angel nurse named Nikki treated him with such compassion and sweetness that i was overcome with gratitude to her. However, when he was moved to the 400 wing, room 416 to be exact, that Angel nurse was gone and replaced by nurses who should not be nurses. It takes a very special kind of person to care for others, truly care. Like Nikki in the ICU. My Daddy's room got filthier day by day and he was hurt when two young men nurses manhandled him. The worst of it, my Daddy can't use regular hearing aids so he uses an old Radio Shack Equalizer and earphones to hear with. If the batteries are dead or the sound turned down he cannot hear and cannot communicate. The first time i visited him his batteries were dead. So how were they communicating with him? I'm guessing they just came in and did whatever to him without any explanation and I'm FURIOUS about it. I fixed his equalizer with new batteries and wrote on the board that he cannot hear without the device and to speak clearly and loudly into it so he knows what's happening. The next time i came, his hearing device was on the floor in pieces and his room more dirty than I've ever seen a hospital room. These weren't his messes. He was bedridden. So I've got much to say about the care he was given. Not much care at all. Oh yes, he got better but they weren't even giving him his proper meds. I told them what he takes for bedtime and they told me HE NEEDS TO ASK FOR IT.... No, he doesn't. He's prescribed that medicine and they were not even giving it to him until i told them that he was to have it as prescribed!! My biggest pet peeve, my only one, are people that work in the healthcare field that don't care. And sadly it's true. For some and few it is a calling. To take care of people with kindness and compassion. Nikki in ICU is the only person who showed my Daddy that compassion. I think they ignore old people on purpose because they think they don't know what's going on or whatever the reason. But it isn't right to have these people nursing. One young man was right outside my Daddy's door on the computer and ignored all my requests to get a nurse. He just disappeared after i asked for the main nurse and i waited 3 hours for her. My husband was on the same wing not two weeks before, with complications from radiation treatments and he was treated very well. So why wasn't my Daddy treated the same way?? I know one thing for sure. I'll never send another family member to IU Health Bedford."

"The night of 11/17/23 was the worst healthcare experience I’ve had in my life. My 5 year old daughter was puking every 30 minutes for the 5 hours we were there. Never got any fluids, water, or anything to clean up her vomit. Had to ask multiple times to see Dr Garrison, barely saw him besides when it was time for discharge. Wish I could give them negative stars."

"Poor ER. Lady asked for SS# to be shared out loud by front desk--no thanks! Can't do any scans in this ER except x-ray. Wouldn't give my daughter an ice pack for injury until we begged for one--it was ice (as we were finally leaving) in a BioHazard bag! They basically did nothing for us. Also had to beg for a sling for her injured arm. The facility is grubby--dirty bathrooms, paint chipping off everything, rusty equipment. Uncaring nurses. Didn't even see a real doctor, only a FNP. What a joke for an ER."
