"I’m a 77 year old senior citizen who was scheduled for MRI’s at Kokomo St Vincent Hospital. I did all the appropriate pre-registering before my appointment. As I was filling out my general questionnaire, the MRI tech called my name and we proceeded to change station. I had not listed all my previous surgeries on the form…instead I handed a complete typed version to the tech. At that moment, she took the typed version out of my hand, scribbled two previous surgeries on the form and told me she could not run a copy because hospital would complain about money spent on copies! I was stunned! I was then situated in the MRI machine, handed earplugs and a rubber “stop” button (I could push this button if I was experiencing any issues during the test). I had to push the stop button once because I needed support under my legs. The tech then said “what’s the matter”. In a very rude way. I told her the issue, the tech then put pillows under my knees. I laid in the MRI for approximately 45 minutes and absolutely no one checked on my status. Usually MRI techs periodically check on their patients to make sure they are ok and comfortable. I could have died in the MRI and no one would have noticed! After completing the MRI, I asked the tech why no one communicated anything to me or checked on me and she said “well you had the stop button and we can’t stop the MRI in progress…it would take too long to finish”. I struggled to get out of the machine and as I was walking (limping) back to the changing room, I complained of pain in my back. The tech then said and I quote “didn’t your doctor prescribe pain meds”? That comment was uncalled for and out of line! It’s obvious to me that the only thing St Vincent Kokomo hospital cares about is money..not their patients!"

"I can not complain a lot especially the ER department. I was pretty much taken care of. Actually they saved my life. I have kidney failure. Thank you so much for saving my life."

"This is usually a trusted hospital, but I’m absolutely sure I will never be back here again. The EMTs that came had absolutely no bedside manner or hustle. We get into the waiting room and there’s blood all over the floor. We told the front desk woman about it and she didn’t seem to care at all, so multiple people sat in the waiting room with blood on the bottom of their shoes. I finally got up and put a slip sign over the blood. Dr. DeVaul is condescending and we’ve been waiting over 7 hours for blood test results. We got a blanket and it was covered in fluids/ stains. Don’t come here if you want bedside manner and people to care about your pain and time. You’ll probably catch a disease just waiting to be helped."

"St. Vincent us my favorite hospital in Indiana, both Indianapolis and Carmel have saved my life... literally twice now, however... St. Vincent Kokomo is lost and confused. Probably will take someone's life literally real soon. I get staffing shortages and everything since Covid-19 but the lack of care and concern fir patient s and their family, leaves me speechless!"

"I was recently a patient (2 nights) in the "2 MEDICAL/PEDIATRIC" unit at the Kokomo location of St Vincent. While I was very appreciative of my nurses, I can't say the same for the "Techs". I was told to urinate in the "hat" whenever needed and not to flush the contents because they needed to see how much I was putting out. So, that's what I did.... until the hot was so full that I would be sitting in it if it wasn't emptied!! (See pic) It was disgusting!! Then, I ran out of TP & informed the tech. She brought me 2 rolls, which I was thankful for, but never installed them in the holder (2nd pic). This made it difficult to manage, with my IV pole, gown, etc, without the roll falling on the floor. It didn't help matters at all. Third, I was asked whether I wanted my door left open or closed... I requested it be closed.. Didn't happen...grrrrrr. The last straw for me was the TECHS wearing waaaayyy too much perfume! By the time I was released I was sneezing & had a constant runny nose from their lack of consideration! Just a few SIMPLE, ROUTINE THINGS that could've been done to make my stay a 9/10 experience instead of a 5/10. I know these things may seem petty, but when you're sick they aren't so trivial. I spent 20+ yrs working in hospitals and would've been embarrassed if this level of care was given at my former workplace. Do better, St V! My Mom is a cancer patient with your hospital. Imagine how mortified it would be for her to receive such poor care!!! Uncalled for... Concerned patient, Amy L. Garrison"
