"Been emailing this place for weeks now with mo answer. I have many questions about paperwork. How does anyone get appointments to this place? Do you need an attorney?"
"I had a wonderful experience working with the Spanish Consulate in Chicago. I was impressed by the efficiency and professionalism of the staff. All of my emails were responded to quickly, and I was able to schedule an appointment shortly after I requested it. At the appointment, I was treated very respectfully and kindly. The staff was knowledgeable and helpful, and they took the time to answer all of my questions. I would definitely recommend the Spanish Consulate in Chicago to others."
"If you come prepared with all the paperwork required & specified on the website, the process is very smooth. Friendly staff and clean office. My visa interview only took 20 minutes and was very straightforward. I received my visa 2 weeks after application. FYI only money orders are accepted as a form of payment. Make sure to prepare that."
"20 years living in Chicago...I have never been able to reach anyone via phone or email. NEVER!!! all systems are useless. I'm a citizen of Spain living in the area. I have had to miss work to be able to go to downtown 5 hours process to get info to miss another day of work plus gas, tolls, parking...to make it with a environmental illness disability what it is pretty tough and dangerous for me. A consulate is supposed to be there to help people, not to ignore them and make it impossible for the citizens to get help."
"POOR customer service. I dropped off some important documents as no one had picked up their phone for the past month so I couldnt ask question via phone. I was greeted by Spanish Embassy in Chicago (180 N Michigan Ave, Suite 1500) by their guard named Tracy (american) with yelling, scream, and treated me like i was a trash. Her first words while yelling was not even hi welcome but why do you have your phone?? turn it off! On top of her lungs. If she gave me a nano second to open the door, breathe, put my hands in my bag to turn off my phone, I would have done it. However, i have not even step foot. She was also being hysterical! Also, the sign does not say no phones allowed. But no taking of video or photos. So THAT IS RUDE! I know she is the security and have gun but dont threat people like that who came peacefully. You almost gave me a heart attack! I also work in a secured/classified environment but we do not operate like this. Your office needs to have a customer service training to your security guard and not treat people like animals who doesnt understand english (if she was so proud that she knows English, she could have atleast shown she can speak Spanish as well. Shouldnt that be a criteria to work in a consulate?). Be careful how you treat customers, I may have arrived in jeans / casual attire and not in suit or expensive outift, but i believe most of your customers are educated enough though. At the end of the day, customers come to your office / embassy for assistance as a person, as a human being. You should relook at how your security, Tracy, work. Or better yet, hire a new security contractor if she can't embody or represent Spanish Govt culture specially as the first line to greet in your office."
