"**Montgomery Regional Airport (MGM): A Southern Gem** As an aviation hub serving Montgomery, Alabama, **MGM** has undergone significant improvements over the years. Let's delve into the details: 1. **Clean and Structured Space**: - The airport's aesthetics have seen a dramatic upgrade. Passengers are greeted by a clean and well-organized environment. - The second-floor dome area, with its mood lighting, adds a touch of elegance. 2. **Efficient Check-In and Security**: - **MGM** offers curb-side check-in, allowing travelers to swiftly drop off their luggage. - Security procedures are efficient, ensuring a hassle-free experience. 3. **Food and Beverage Options**: - Groundside and airside dining choices are basic but functional. - **Montgomery Muggs**, the primary food outlet, specializes in pre-made sandwiches and coffee. While it may not be gourmet, it serves its purpose. 4. **Airport Layout and Amenities**: - The airport layout is somewhat peculiar, but once you navigate security, you'll find a small bar—a bright spot in the main terminal. - The attentive bartender keeps travelers informed about flight schedules, allowing them to relax without constantly checking departure boards. 5. **Room for Improvement**: - **Maintenance Delays**: Some passengers have experienced delays due to maintenance issues. It's an area that could be addressed. - **Limited Food Choices**: Consider grabbing a meal before arriving at the airport, as options are currently limited to **Montgomery Muggs** and **Subway**. 6. **Overall Impression**: - **MGM** embodies Southern hospitality, making travelers feel welcome. - While not a major international hub, it's an easy airport to navigate and provides a pleasant experience."

"I believe this may be the smallest regional airport that I've ever encountered. My husband later told me that the one in Macon, Georgia is even smaller. I actually got lost going to baggage claim when I first arrived. I just wasn't expecting it to be in a room directly at the bottom of the escalator that was right past the car rental agents. Well, now I know the entire layout. My brother picked me up at the airport. I didn't need to walk very far. It all went by so quickly. Departing was much easier. There's literally no traffic going in or out. American and Delta are the only two airlines. The automated check-in kiosks were only for those who aren't checking in bags. Initially, there was no one there to check my bag. A nice man came out a few minutes later, checked in my bag, and told me to walk it over about 10 steps to the drop off area and push it under the plexiglass barrier. It was easy peasy. Then, you just walk up the stairs (or take the elevator) to the 2nd floor. The main terminal is just a rotunda with displays of Alabama events and tourism. It was a nice looking rotunda with a dome. There's just a few chairs up there. Your family or friends can go up there with you, and watch you go through security. You can even wave goodbye to them on the other end. I think there was only 2 other passengers up there with us. Security was a breeze. I didn't even have to take my tablet out. There was no need to grab a storage container. They did it all for me. There's no way that anyone could be late getting to their designated gate. As far as I know, there is only 1 terminal. I saw Gates 1-6. There may be more hiding somewhere, but I didn't see more than 6. There is a small café called Runway 28 to the right. As you keep walking down towards Gate 1, you'll see the Capital City Coffee & Gifts. Both cafés are run by Tailwind Concessions. The service was good at Capital City. The coffee was about average. There is also an area with snack & drink machines. If I had anything negative to say, it would be that I would have liked to see some local coffee and food vendors. You know... something that showcases what Montgomery, Alabama is all about. They have charging areas (by way of electrical outlets) and TVs. They have rocking chairs all along the window side of the terminal so that you can see the planes coming in. I thought that was a nice homey touch. The TV was set to the Cozi TV channel. It was a pleasant wait. Everyone was nice and professional. It was clean & comfortable. It was a very easy arrival & departure."
