Steak 'n Shake

"The dining area was dirty. The bathroom was filthy. The food was horrible (way too greasy and the onion rings were fried extra hard). The best thing was the shakes and one of the 4 orders had hair in it. Nobody has a hair net on. I didn’t want to cause a scene so I left and decided to write a review instead. Please do better or close down."

"STEAK & SHAKE of Tinley Park, IL is a fast food franchise located near Harlem Ave. The store was very clean & service limited to workers cooking & preparing the food only. Something new! All ordering is electronic from selecting food choices to payment. There is no need for any interaction between the customer & restaurant staff. Staff works quietly preparing your order & one delegated person calls out your name when it is ready to pick up at a person less counter. This one staff member walks around the store as a concierge asking how your meal is & letting you know if you take an online survey you can qualify for a shake at your follow up visit. Let me start by saying STEAK & SHAKE food has always been good. I however, find the personal touch gone from this franchise. Soft drink machine requires you to hold a bar code from your receipt within 20 seconds of fountain drink fill up. Yet another way to eliminate any personal interaction between person to person. This newer development may be a way for the franchise to be cost effective. I found it impersonal. This may be the wave for future fast food joints or possible the downfall. I am not affiliated with STEAK & SHAKE this is my own unbiased review from my recent experience."

"Recently moved to the area and was very excited to have a steak and shake close by. The last few times that my gf and I have went the food has been great. Tony, the cook working the grill, made sure to greet us as soon as we walked in and even got our order started before we were done entering it on the kiosk. He is always polite and the food he cooks has been some of the best Steak and Shake that we have had. Looking forward to going back and getting another burger soon!"

"Asanti was shift manager, she was so helpful and patient as we tried using the kiosk and we messed up and she literally just stepped right up to help us out. We received the type of service that was outstanding, haven't had such a nice friendly service like that in awhile at a fast food establishment. We dined in and everything tasted fresh and the milkshake was perfect. It definitely hit the spot. Thanks again for the great friendly service."
