"I have struggled with insomnia and sleep anxiety most of my adult life. As an Anesthesiologist, the added stress of chronic fatigue affected my ability to concentrate. As a husband and father, my poor sleep led to mood swings and emotional lability. Dr. Todd and his wife, Jenny, have transformed my ability to fall asleep, stay asleep, and wake up refreshed. They gave me the tools to gain control of my sleep health, and in the process have become great mentors/ friends. I would recommend them to anyone who is serious about fixing their sleep problem(s), and improving their overall health in the process. William Pitman, MD"

"This is my recent experience with Dr Todd, Gulf Coast Sleep Specialist. We were referred to his clinic for a sleep study by our primary care nurse practitioner. Dr Todd was introduced as a retired dental surgeon who subsequently studied sleep. He is very personable and knowledgeable about the subject, but as a credentialed dental surgeon lacks Medicare and insurance billing capabilities for sleep therapy. The sleep study he recommends is a convenient home-based study that cost $300 (cash). The study is reviewed by a company in Atlanta and also by a local pulmonologist. Dr Todd explains the results of the study and then patients are encouraged to take the study back to their primary care provider who is to write the prescription for the CPAP machine if indicated. That prescription and clinic note from the primary care physician are then taken to a DME company who provides the CPAP equipment. Should your primary care not wish to write this order you will be required to find a physician willing to do so. All insurance companies, Medicare included, require a medical doctor to write an order for CPAP machines. Since Dr Todd is not an MD we were required to take his study to the local pulmonologist to obtain the order for our CPAP machine. (Note: sleep studies are usually ordered and interpreted by a pulmonologists-MD. As stated, Dr Todd it is not a medical doctor and therefore cannot order sleep therapy equipment through Medicare or insurance.) My recommendation? Patients with sleep issues discuss the problem with primary care and be referred to a board certified pulmonologist to resolve sleep issues...unless you are willing or need to be a cash only patient. "My CPAP was intolerable - I was getting tangled in the tube and the air was blowing directly into my wife's face, so she wasn't sleeping well. I was getting upper respiratory infections, even though I was cleaning everything 3 to 4 times a week. After getting fitted with my device, I'm sleeping soundly without snoring, and my wife is sleeping better. Thanks, Dr. Steve."

"My wife was being kept awake at night because of my snoring. More importantly, she worried about what appeared to her as me gasping for breath throughout the night. I did a sleep study and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. It was scary how many times I would stop breathing while asleep. I started using a CPAP machine, and while they work great for some people, it was not the answer for me. It made me feel claustrophobic, making it hard to fall asleep. Dr. Todd suggested an oral sleep appliance as a possible alternative. I was willing to give it a try and am so happy I did. Dr. Todd provided me with a custom appliance that fits perfectly. I now fall asleep easily and according to my wife snoring is a thing of the past. More importantly, I sleep soundly at night without gasping for air. When I wake up in the morning, I feel like a different person. I am no longer tired due to inconsistent sleep. I would recommend Dr. Todd specifically because he takes the time to ensure whatever works best for you is the plan of action taken. He listens and involves you in the process to resolve your sleep issue. An added benefit for me is that I have more energy throughout the day. As a result, I am able to exercise more and have lost weight."

"Dr. Todd uses the most advanced research and technology in sleep medicine. He listens and connected with us as more than just patients. There are more solutions to sleep apnea and disorders than just medication or CPAP machines. He truly cares about healthy sleep and helping those who suffer. He works with children and adults. Highly recommend."
