"Went in for a new patient appointment to try and establish care with a younger provider as my current provider is getting older and is retiring soon. As a nurse, there were several things about this clinic that threw me off. First being, I received a phone call at 6:30 PM the night before my appointment with somebody leaving a voicemail asking me to get there 30 minutes prior to my appointment. While this is understandable, you should make an attempt to call your patients at least a few days ahead of time if you need them to be there sooner. I called the day of my appointment at 8 AM to let them know that I was unable to come in early to fill out paperwork and asked to get paperwork through my email or through the patient portal. They not only could not send it through my email, but they also didn’t have it available through their portal. I Work at a busy clinic and explained to them that there was no way I could leave work any earlier to get there earlier. I was then told that it would be ideal to be at least 15 minutes early. I felt that this was never truly resolved. When I arrived at my appointment at 2:30 PM, which was on time, I filled out my new patient paperwork and waited to be seen with my husband, who also wanted to establish care as a new patient, and had a 3 pm appointment. I asked for us to go back together if this was more convenient for the provider. This was not a request or an necessity. I just offered this because I thought it would be easier for them. when we got back to a room together, my husband was seen first. When he was done with his visit, she left the room as if she didn’t need to see me. She then came back confused, and did not realize that she had an appointment with me also. At this point it was already close to 330 and she told me that they somehow mixed me up with another patient and that she would be right back to see me. I waited an additional 30 minutes only to find out that she had went to see another patient whose appointment was later than mine, and then came back to see me (at 4pm…. An hour and a half after my scheduled appointment time) when I only had 10 minutes left to spare before needing to pick up my children. we talked for 10 minutes and I didn’t make a big deal out of it because I understand that things happen. I then get sent to the lab to get some basic lab work done. I wait for 10 minutes to see three employees sitting around a desk with nobody asking me if I needed anything or trying to find out what I needed done. There were no other patients in the lab or the waiting room. I used the restroom and then walked up to the desk to ask how much longer it was going to be. Then hear the lab tech say “yeah, she just came out of the bathroom.” As if I wasn’t sitting there waiting for ten minutes prior. I ended up walking out of my appointment without getting blood work done because at this point I was really angry. As a patient at Grandview for all of my OB care (and always have great experiences at that office) I was really hoping that I could find a nurse practitioner to see with the Grandview group. I’ve never had issues like this with Grandview until now, and will never be back for primary care."

"Love Kerrilee, but it has become almost impossible to reach them by phone, can’t find a fax number, etc. I must find another pc. Thankfully, they have contacted me and fixed the problem. So happy to keep going there! Great place."

"Dr. Whitworth’s Assistant - this was my son’s first visit to see Dr. Whitworth. My son’s character is personable, charming and caring. The front staff greeted us both in a friendly and polite manner. Then when his assistant called him back to his exam room, things turned south. My son came back to the waiting room to confirm the pharmacy number he had listed on his paperwork. It was a major drugstore closest to our home. The assistant was questioning it because his existing prescriptions are from a different location. I approached the assistant to show her my phone contact for the drugstore. I immediately noticed her tense body language and irritation. With a scowl on her face, the assistant said she just wanted to confirm that the info my son put in his paperwork was correct. So, she and my son went back to the exam room and within 5 minutes, he comes out, headed for the door saying, “let’s go!” When we got to our car, he tells me what happened after they went back to the exam room. He explained that while she was taking his vitals, she was short with her responses. When he pushed up his sleeve so that she could take his blood pressure, she YANKED his sleeve down and said hatefully, “I don’t need that!” Then she told him to sit in the chair and slammed the exam door as she left the room. My son waited about a minute before he decided he was NOT going to be treated that way. He got up from his chair, opened the door and there was Dr. Whitworth about to come in. My son told the Doctor that he was probably a very nice doctor, but that his assistant was very rude and that he (my son) was NOT going to be treated that way! Dr. Whitworth was speechless, while his assistant said, “well, if you feel like that, you can leave.” WHAT???? She said that??? To a patient??? That assistant should’ve been reprimanded- if not fired - for her treatment toward my son. Why is it that people like the assistant work in a profession where compassion is a requirement? There is no excuse for her attitude. My son is owed an apology. People like the assistant gives the good ones a bad name. If that was her true self, that woman should NOT be working at Grandview. And I was going to change my primary care physician from the Grandview location on 280 to the Pelham location for convenience, but there is no way I will do that now. The folks at the Grandview 280 location are very nice and compassionate / just what a person needs when they are seeking medical attention. Dr. Whitworth’s assistant (I can’t bring myself to call her a “nurse”) needs to be reprimanded for mistreating my son in a very unprofessional manner. And Dr. Whitworth just lost a patient."
