"Let me begin by saying I'm not a complainer however I will provide this review because I don't think companies really pay attention to their customer service these days when they really should appreciate the customers or potential customers in our economy. I have a Porter Cable air compressor which is only about a year old and only used about six times. When I started to use it the other day it would not turn on or do anything so I contacted Porter Cable Support to ask if they had run into this problem or suggest a local repair company. They recommended Tool Expo for repairs so I contacted them to explain situation and talked with Bob. He state if I had receipt and was still under warranty they could handle repairs that way or I could pay to have repaired. I ask Bob if they could do a basic test to see if it could locate the problem in hopes I may be able to repair myself by using internet videos or something like that to repair. He said they could run a test for $15 so I dropped by their shop to leave unit. When got to shop gentleman at the counter, not Bob, stated they charge $95 fee and if they repair the test fee would be $15 and this fee is prepaid. This is not what Bob had stated to me over the phone and through an email. The man said they had several new compressors to sell if I was interested. As it turns out I could purchase a new compressor for almost the cost of the testing fee not to mention the extra labor and materials if they repaired unit. It's very sad that now days companies do not take the time to offer good customer service and some do not seem to care whether or not they gain a new customer or not. My advice for doing business with this company would be to check references and ask many questions to confirm and double check what their policies are related to repairs or visit another company. It's disappointing that I had to take the time and efforts to go to their shop to find out the info that was explained to me was incorrect and I was back to my original situation."

"I think it would show care for the customer to keep common parts for popular tools in stock. I am a little exhausted from hearing the problems of the business owners, especially as excuses. When I need a part for a common weed eater AND I had to pay in advance AND it takes 3 weeks instead of 1 AND my grass kept growing anyway...well, darn it, keep some basic inventory for common tools in stock or its too much trouble to do business with you."
