Wixom Habitat

"It's a nice little walk but the bridge is starting to settle, causing lots of trip hazards and the teens are trashing up the sitting area at the end. Great place for family photos tho!"

"I came here a few years ago during the summer months. I'm obsessed with exploring the hiking/nature trails around southeast Michigan and elsewhere. I'm giving Wixom Habitat 3 stars because while it is a beautiful place it is entirely boardwalk and you can't exactly leave it. I guess technically you could, but its definitely not designed for you to walk off of and hike your own trail. Also, while I did do a little research beforehand I didn't realize just how fast it would take to reach the end of the boardwalk. I knew the place wasn't enormous, but it won't take long to walk its length. It is a nice view when you do get to the end, I will say that. I didn't see too many other people while I was there which is always nice. I did pass by two fellas that were clearly on a lunch break from work and definitely had been smoking weed. Neither of them offered to share any. All in all it's a place I would come to if I lived close by and wanted to go on a nice nature walk, but I wouldn't travel far to come here."

"It's a lovely area. I got a little lost getting there because I was using directions to the habitat and not the trailhead, so if you're coming here for a nice nature walk, go the trailhead instead. My first visit was during the winter, so there was very little wildlife. The trail is short, but at the end there's a very picturesque view of a lake. Another nice thing about this place is that it's open 24/7. If you want to visit, I recommend going here early for some peace and quiet."
