"There are very few places that have a local importance with regard to a multi-generational connection to the area. Staggs is one of them. Absolutely the best burgers I have ever had and ever will have. My memories of this place go back to childhood, teenage years, and of course the here and now where I am getting a few more grey hairs than I would like, lol. I would go here when "adventuring" away from high school to grab lunch when I thought I'd get away with sneaking off campus. Of course, only to find every football/basketball/baseball coach at my school was also eating lunch there that day. "Busted" lol . Anyway, it is a special place for a lot of locals and as such it is a must stop at place for anyone visiting the area. The hours of operation have always been open early and close early...and that's just the way it is. Lunch can get busy as can what I call the "biscuit hour" when folks are up early on their way to work ( or if they are lucky, going fishing on their day off). Not fancy but always friendly. One of those places where they make do and keep the prices as low as they can. Can't say that for a lot of places that have opened up in the area these days. One word comes to mind when local folks mention Staggs, "Tradition.""
"This little hole in the wall restaurant is located in the Sweetwater district of East Florence. Despite it's humble appearance, they're serving up a grand delicious homemade breakfast and some of the best burgers around on the inside. Staggs is open early for breakfast and serves lunch until 2 pm. It's iconic and has been a staple in Florence for as long as I can remember. The chocolate gravy served on Fridays brings me back to my childhood. It's just as my great-grandmother made it. Stop by Monday through Friday. You won't be disappointed."
