"I had an absolutely terrible experience working with this bank. We met every requirement needed, and did everything they asked of us. They still refused to give us a loan because we were trying to assume a mortgage at a lower interest rate. What happened was absolutely discrimination, and they wasted our time for months as they strung us along. If you are looking for a bank with a shred of integrity, keep on looking. The customer service is pathetic and they are extremely dishonest. We had no problem at all getting a loan from another lender, and were able to get one in 1 week after Flagstar almost caused our house deal to fall through."

"There needs to be a ZERO Star option. This bank had done nothing but offer lip service to review a submission for a deed description change and has failed to meet a concurrent approval deadline with my local Town & County. All they do is offer lip service."

"They rejected my application for a COVID hardship loan modification that I started with my previous lender, and then tried to foreclose and force a veteran and two children out of their home. Had to declare bankruptcy to avoid losing my house to them. Just another soulless corporate entity that will take whatever it can from you."

"Worst Customer Service EVER. I highly suggest if you are shopping for a mortgage loan you pass on this Bank!! You are just a number to them. You will never get to speak to a real person, you will never be able to handle any issues that come up, their solution for everything is "someone will email you back"."

"I want to express my deep disappointment and frustration with Flagstar Bank. Recently, I went through the process of obtaining a mortgage with your institution and the experience was a complete nightmare for me and my family. After the mortgage was approved and we were ready to close on the purchase of our home, you informed us that you needed to review our application again and ultimately denied the loan. This caused us to lose a significant amount of time and caused a great deal of stress and anxiety in our lives. In addition, I learned that instead of communicating directly with me or my real estate agent, you contacted the seller to inform them that the loan had not been cancelled, which caused a great deal of mistrust from the seller and others involved in the process. I want you to know that this kind of behavior is unacceptable and has left a very negative impression on my experience with your institution. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of transparency and effective communication throughout the mortgage process. In summary, I cannot recommend Flagstar as a reliable financial institution for obtaining a mortgage. I hope that you take my comments into consideration and make improvements to your customer service to ensure that future customers do not have to go through what I went through."
