"Very cool place. Unique shop attached to a record label that is putting out some great music. My review pertains to the concert venue. I saw William Tyler play here. When the opening band was playing, the sound tech attempted to fix something with a speaker and created an exploding sound on multiple different occasions. I imagine this is bad for the equipment, but it is really bad for the ear drums of everyone in the venue. I'm not an expert, but it seems like this should not happen at a professional venue like this, especially not multiple times. When William Tyler and band were playing, the mix was not good. The drum and bass were much too loud, drowning out the guitar, which is, in my mind, the star of this show for this particular band (only the guitarist's name is on the ticket, after all). My friend said it sounded like they did not do a sound check before the show. Kind of a bummer. I'd come here again and wouldn't discourage people from coming, but I think that the shop/venue should organize things in such a way that the sound engineers can pay attention to these issues. Most importantly, they should really prioritize the health of their guests."

"The first day we were in town there was an album release, not to mention a Jack White concert in Detroit that night, so there was a literal line around the block. We didn’t have time to wait in line but I’m so glad that we stuck around the next morning for the store to open before we left town. What a neat stop for any fan of music. I prefer this Third Man Records shop over the Nashville location. The album pressing shop was very cool to see. There was all sorts of awesome memorabilia to check out. A nice amount of merchandise to choose from. Not to mention the albums on sale. We spent a good amount of time looking at everything. We were back for a tour, Salem and Bree were great! The tour is well worth the money!"

"One of a kind spot Choice selection of quality pressed, locally manufactured vinyl - they record live to acetate and you can only get the records here. Absolute must visit for any music fan (especially if you love the blues) in Detroit"

"Wow! I’m a bit late to the party but what an awesome destination. You can plan a day trip around this place. Simply visiting Third Man Records in Detroit is a genuine experience. From the moment you walk through the front door you can see what a cool place this is. The attention to detail - from the sophisticated loft-style architecture, bold use of primary colors, vintage interior elements, and the captivating lighting - there is eye candy everywhere. . Third Man Records - Detroit - is a (lp vinyl) record store and if you didn’t already know there is a large lp vinyl (record) pressing factory in the back - which you can view from a large glass wall overlooking the operation. Also there is plenty of stylish merch. In addition to everything else this place has a stage for live concerts. Can’t emphasize enough just how awesome it is to visit… This place rewrites the meaning of hip & cool."
