"Contracted Hearth and Home (HH) to install a free-standing wood stove in October 2022. HH performed a visit to the house to confirm dimensions and scope, and we executed the contract. HH failed to install new flashing as part of their contracted scope. HH installed temporary flashing and told the inspector they would return to install the permanent fixture. That was in October 2022, and as of April 2023, the work has not been complete. HH told me after the FINAL INSPECTION that they needed to get a metal roofing contractor lined up because they don't touch metal roofs. However, this was all discussed ahead of time and during the at-home visit that this wouldn't be an issue. Now, I'm stuck with an unfinished project and HH has yet to confirm with me if the permit has been closed or not. HH has told me several times they have a metal roofing contractor who can assist with the project, but have not scheduled that work or shared their contact so that I can finish their work myself. This project was in a rural area south of Portage. It was very difficult to find a "Professional" wood stove installer. Unfortunately, I still haven't found one. Do yourself a favor and shop around extra diligently if you're looking for a new stove or fireplace. Hearth and Home is an unprofessional and unethical business and I urge you to spend your money elsewhere. Finally, if anyone has contacts for metal roofing contractors who can terminate a piece of metal stove pipe flashing, please let me know! I would love to finish this simple project before winter 2023, and I have no confidence HH will complete it's work."

"Buyer beware! $125 to come to my home to LOOK at the problem. Then a second trip charge of $65/hour to come back to fix the problem. If you're lucky like I was, the technician won't be knowledgeable on fireplaces so you'll be paying, like I did, by the hour for them to learn how to repair my insert. Oh and they don't warrant their work if the part fails. So, all in, I spent over $250 to install $65 in replacement parts with no warranty. Way too much for what should have been a simple plug & play installation. Needless to say, I hope you learn from my mistake and choose someone else to do your fireplace work because Hearth & Home will overcharge you for the work and won't stand behind it when it's done!"
