Steak 'n Shake

"I have always loved their shakes but the last two visits they used whipped topping instead of whipped cream which tasted like hard cool whip. Wasn't the greatest. Wish they would have asked or suggested it as an alternative."

"So we hadn't been to a S&S in a long time. But since we were in the area, we stopped for lunch. Store was very clean and the grounds. I've always loved their retro look. Here's the weird part, no waiters or waitresses, freaking self service at a screen. This totally sucked to see, it kills the retro feel. But we understand how impossible good, hard working , young people are to find. Food was good as expected and we will go back the next time we are in that town."

"Ok, folks... Compared to a year or so ago when I was here, this Steak 'N' Shake has seemed to get their dine-in act together! I went in on Saturday afternoon, ordered at the kiosk paying with card, stood around a couple minutes, then sat down. A female employee, who I think was the shift manager, eventually came out with my food. GREAT food (seems like they've improved their fries somehow, or maybe I just thought so because mine weren't soft/greasy like in the past), and the manager walked by on average every 5-10 minutes to ask diners how things were. Two SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS I noticed: 1) The floor wasn't sticky/tacky anymore!!! When I mentioned this to the manager, she said she just spent two hours or more cleaning it a day or so prior. 2) The men's bathroom appeared quite a bit cleaner and there was no foul odor! One other thing I should mention is that now they have a water button on the beverage dispenser. The first dispenser installed post-pandemic (this could be the same one) did not have one. Anyway, I was happy with my experience, so I may have to start going there again on a more regular basis!"

"I don’t often leave reviews for restaurants, but was so impressed by my experience that I have to. My food was ready in less than 5 minutes, it was fresh, delicious and the restaurant was also super clean! Every steak n shake experience I’ve had in the last 5 years has been so meh that I had given up on them, but this location has stepped it up! The manager stopped by my table to ask how my food was and seemed super on top of things. The rest of the staff were very friendly too. They also were doing repairs in the dining room while I was there so it seems they’re very much changing things around there. Five stars!"

"This place has stepped up since COVID. We haven't been in over 4 years due to the terrible service. We gave it a chance today and we're very impressed. Table service is gone and you now order at a touchscreen kiosk. Food was made fresh and quick. Staff was friendly and attentive. Would have been 5 stars but the floor was sticky in areas and it could have been swept up better. We were there at 11am shortly after open so it's not like it got wrecked during lunch rush."
