"I’ve had several unbelievably positive experiences with the beautiful and talented Lily over the past 4 years. Lily only uses Organic Color Systems (OCS) from the UK. I drive nearly an hour for her services, because after extensive research, OCS is the only permanent hair color I will use. As a physician, when I research something, particularly a product where I’m worried about safety/toxicity, I do the deep, deep dive. Not a Google search. I review the medical literature and all the science I can find on the topic. A few years ago, my young daughter was diagnosed with childhood cancer, and my two gray temples joined forces and took over my entire head. After she recovered, I became obsessed with safer products and avoiding toxins and carcinogens. With OCS, the name of the product line reflects that most of the ingredients are classified as “organic,” but no permanent hair color can be completely organic or non-toxic. OCS is entirely transparent about the fact that they use a small amount of PPD to attain permanent color. The amount of PPD is a fraction of that used in conventional color (the literature on lymphomas associated with traditional hair dyes show higher risk in people who have chronically colored with darker dyes). So many products now advertise a PPD-free, “non-toxic” dye…but buyer beware, this is often “greenwashing.” Many PPD-free permanent colors replace it with the sister chemical, PTD, which is significantly more toxic than PPD. I won’t mention brands, but “PPD-free” is a red flag. Based on my reading, OCS is among the least toxic permanent color brands. OCS is not 100% organic, and they don’t claim to be. They (and Lily) are absolutely forthcoming in this regard, and list all of their ingredients. The negative review below brings up an important point about safety, but is not an accurate statement about THIS product or THIS professional. I would be much more concerned about products claiming to be PPD-free…if it can permanently alter the color of your hair, it needs a permanent pigment. A product “free of” the big 3 nasties must replace them with something else if it’s going to work. But they won’t tell you openly what they are replacing them with!! I also have allergies, and have reacted to many other products. OCS doesn’t irritate my scalp during or after the process, even with the addition of heat. I am super sensitive to smell…OCS has zero smell. Now let’s get to Lily. She’s obviously done her research, and carries the OCS color line as well as their highlighting products and shampoos/conditioners. She also carries the Keragreen line for safer keratin treatments. She’s still very very careful with the product and wears gloves (I have been in salons that carry supposedly “non-toxic products” where they’re splashing it around everywhere without gloves and joking about it being edible). What you will get from Lily is honest, accurate information, with a focus on your safety and comfort. She’s also an outstanding colorist, with fantastic cutting/styling skills, and on top of it all she’s simply an exceptional, beautiful, kind and loving woman! I would drive 50 minutes for her, even without her magic hair color! Lily is very skilled, creative, super accommodating with my difficult schedule, and just overall a magnificent human being. She’s also amazing with my two very anti-haircut daughters, and makes my mom’s feather thin hair look stunning and full. I’m not quite ready to accept that the salt is winning the war against the pepper, and hair dye is one of the most unbelievably toxic things we encounter. We can buy organic foods, make good nutrition choices, not smoke, use SPF. Then somehow, we pour toxic chemicals directly onto our highly vascularized scalp every 6 to 8 weeks without questioning it. I genuinely believe OCS is a MUCH safer option, and it is the only permanent color product I will EVER use. Lily is a gem, and I’m so blessed to have found her!!!"

"I have been seeing Lily since 2019 for organic hair color, straightening treatments, haircut and brow tinting. I am not only impressed with her organic products but her focus on ensuring her clients have a safe hair experience from a health perspective.Lily is also a kind person so she puts her clients first and does not “nickel and dime” her clients like most salons.
